Think I’ll start a Pinkerton’s Assorted Colours forum. Who’s with me?

I should add that the bridge on mine was handcrafted by hokumjim! When it comes to guitars, he knows his onions.

I have the C model, rosewood back and sides, and banjo tuners that aren’t the easiest for keeping in tune! Loud though!

Hi Johan As you know, I have a similar old chromed Triolian, which Steve Evans re-necked many years ago. He did a great job.

My opinion: these guitars were meant to be played. Do what’s needed to make it playable in a way you can enjoy. You won’t want to ever part with it once it’s set up to your preferred style, so resale value won’t be an issue.

Whilst this is eminently playable in standard tuning (down to C), there is a strong case for thinking he may have been in EAEGBE tuning.

Going back to the tuning point made by snakehips, yes he tuned to Spanish, but he would sometimes drop the sixth string from D all the way down to B. I asked him once about this and he wouldn't tell me his secret. Fortunately he went on his break and I was able to pluck each course of strings and work this out.

Peter Barton in Addingham is your man! He's worked on two old 12 strings for me and his work is great. He's currently working on my 1920s Stella.

Up until recently they still had the Mike Russo title available on vinyl. I bought one, and it doesn't disappoint!

Don't know if it's still there, but there used to be an electrical parts shop in Dalkeith Road, just south of Commonwealth Pool on the opposite side. The guy there used to do remagnetising and rewinding of pickups for not very much money.
