Finally got a lift from a Ford Popular full of wimminz when I had walked all the way to Park Royal. I smiled then....

I have created this thread because I thought the Stones and this conversation should have its own thread. Photo by my brother, Alan Messer, at Hyde Park Keith Richards by Alan Messer - 1969 ....and again a few years later, Voodoo Lounge tour 1994 Mick Taylor by Alan Messer Mick Jagger by Alan Messer Hells Angels at Hyde Park concert I have seen the Rolling Stones with all three guitarists, but for me the real Rolling Stones was with Brian Jones and Mick Taylor. 'Black & Blue' was the last Rolling Stones record that I bought. I saw them in '76, and that was the last time I saw them.....or was it "maybe the last time I don't know..."The Rolling Stones up to that point in time were a major part of my life and probably the most influential band in my music. I love these photos.... Rolling Stones Alexandra Palace - 1964 - All night rave by Frank Monaco/REX/Shutterstock Shine On Michael

I saw them in late '63 & again in '64 at the Ricky Tick Club at Reading Olympia - they were playing mostly Chuck Berry & Bo Diddley covers, & since it was the first gig I ever went to, were a very atmospheric introduction to concerts, people screaming & fainting & such - though for me they very quickly lost out to the 'real' bluesmen like Sonny Boy Williamson & Little Walter who also played the Ricky Tick circuit; Sonny Boy especially, had more attitude in his little finger.. I held my nerve, & got him to autograph my membership card, which I still have.. still have a nostalgic fondness for the Stones tho, who'd'a thought they'd still be around now, pretty much 'national treasures' too?! Keef should have listed building status by now surely?

had a chance to go to the "Steel Wheels" tour for free. a cute little blonde had backed out on a date with a friend, and he offered her ticket to me coupla days before the event.
but i had bought a ticket to go see Emmy Lou Harris and The Hot Band scheduled on the same night some weeks previously.
declined generous offer from bud, who's ticket was about 3X+$, IIRC. not a Stones hater, but this turned out to be the final tour Emmy Lou would do with her "Hot Band", when Albert Lee and Ricky Skaggs were still members.
no regrets, mitchfit

I saw the Stones in 1969 at Madison Square Garden. Was the one of my first trip to NYC taken as a teen without adults...piled into a 1963 Rambler with 3 cousins...midnight Rambler wax painted on hood. Was a great show but I was disappointed in the arrangements (or lack of) understanding that Mick Taylor just joined. My impression of the post-70’s Stones is like comparing a Beatles Album to a McCartney Album.
Funny story is my crazy uncle who was always taking us to James Bond movies and NY Mets games wanted to take us to see the Stones at the Mosque Theatre in Newark in 1964. Moms said no...
