..this old National got a new neck made and installed in Sweden! Haha, just want to share this one with you guys, I have this oldie and I have been looking like mad for an original neck for it, for along time.. But the story behind this guitar is pretty cool, sometime in the late 60's or early 70's this Triolian or Duolian body got chrome plated over here and was sent to a guitar factory in Sweden to get a new neck. This company was BJARTON, they made lots of own designs and much of Hagstroms acoustics! A really great Swedish guitar factory btw. I bet they were puzzled to find out how the necks were made for old Nationals, haha!! So, as I have been told from the previous owner, this neck (which comes from the Bjarton model JIMMY) was modified and got a neck stick etc and was installed. Still works fine today!! I really love the tone and playability in this old guitar, sweet tone.. You'll hear it on my next Opus3 album for sure if anyone's interested. Just for the fun of it, have a look!! It sure doesn't look right but I'm not sure I want to change the neck after all, it's so much a part of this guitars life history by now.. We'll see if i find an original some day!

John it may be worth retro fitting some mushrooms in place of the chunks of wood, it helps more to support the back, stop the neck pulling up, whatever happens any work done will change the tone, like a marriage for Better or Worse. But you know most of this as you are a veteran of the resonator guitars.

Hi Johan As you know, I have a similar old chromed Triolian, which Steve Evans re-necked many years ago. He did a great job.

In 1983 I bought a 14 fret chrome-plated Duolian from Mark Makin. A couple of years later I sold it to George Gruhn. I wonder what happened to that one?

I wonder if that Was that the one that Clapton had and sold at Auction Celebrity ownership normally adds an extra fiver.... Lee

Regards Lee Yes, if I decide to keep this neck I'll do some work on it for sure, still, it's been ok for so long so I think it'll stay cool for a while longer! Hoping to find an old Nat neck though..
