Any suggestions for a suitable luthier for the job, preferably Yorkshire way.

Hi Ken
I don't know Bill Dinsdale so I can't comment on his work, but the leading Stella man in the UK, Ralph Bown, lives and works in York. You may well have met him as he came to Pocklington last year for the Saturday night concert. Ralph has repaired, restored Stellas and built beautiful replicas.

Peter Barton in Addingham is your man! He's worked on two old 12 strings for me and his work is great. He's currently working on my 1920s Stella.

Hi there !
I've got to agree with Prof Scratchy, my bandmate. His 12 string, affectionately and appropriately named "Boris", which I believe is a large-bodied 1920's Harmony (totally different quality to later Harmonys)was restored by Peter Barton - including making and fitting a new 12 string neck. It is the best 12-string I have ever played - the new neck is VERY sympathetically modelled to fit in aesthetically with the rest of the guitar.
Anyone that can do that, in my book, is well worth trying out !
