there is a sticker on the back "Geoff Atherton Promotions" there was an Island Records "plugger" of the same name in 70's maybe him? incidentally the record was bought by me online from Finland ..

so ..new vinyl for me ...although 30 years old! it is just about to get played for myself ( and the neighbours) the yellow piece of paper is a photocopied review of the album from July 1988 Q maagazine -note the last line!!  |

The reason i picked up guitar -SRV
This earlyish 82.. around the time of his 1st Album Texas Flood.
What i love is the "dynamics" in his playing ..he constantly changing pickups and adjusting volume/tone and where he picks the strings
with Right hand ...superb ..

mmmm Interesting
It was a Duo and the guy doing the part of "Eric" has been doing this plugged and unplugged for 33 years so i was surprised when he attempted the slide version of "Running on Faith" in standard tuning on his low action E.C Martin.. it was a weak perfomance of that song for those reasons.
I was even more surprised to find out ( after chatting to him at the end) that he doesn't own a reso and doesn't know how to tune to open tuning!!

No affiliation etc, but cheap Vintage AM1 reso on fleabay, £200 starting price. Yes, I can hear the sucking of air through teeth, oooh the ‘f’ holes aren’t quite right etc etc. I used to own a Vintage tricone, perfectly playable and I’m sure this is the same. Item number 292613807941 Mate of mine put in an offer for this of £160 .. accepted straight away!! |
