I was all ready to turn in for the night and suddenly it was an hour and a half later! Thanks because I'd not heard of this auction before.

I know this auction and I always keep an eye on what's there. Most of the UK collectors and dealers watch their auctions. I know about lot 271 "#0650 style 2 Tricone" too Shine On Michael

If you are thinking about bidding on anything it is best to see the guitar in the flesh.I bought a Martin style 3k uke from them and the condition was a lot worse than it was described to me.

All of the guitars there are rubbish, do not bid!!!
Only joking of course I have bought a few too many guitars amps and pedals from these guys, but I can not speak highly enough of the team there, and yes you do need to visit the auction to make sure you are happy with what you buy.
Kris has just listed on the forum a National model D that I got from the auction a few years back, we did some horse trading and he took it off me, it is top drawer and as good as new, so keep an eye out for future guitars etc from Gardiner Houlgate.
I am hoping to visit the auction but have a lot on at the moment and too many instruments so I need to remind myself that there is nothing that I really need (other than a bargain!!!)

If anyone goes to view, it would be interesting to know if lot 271, #0650 roundneck tricone, has the 'holy well', the triangular holes between the cones. It falls around the range of a number of these odd instruments and looks as if it might be one of them from the photo... My style 2 #0632 above has this feature.

A friend of mine looked at it and said it wasn't anything special, but these days £4400 is a bargain for a 1928 Style 2.

No I already have enough guitars, but you have to remember on the hammer price add another 24%!!!
I could not make the auction but have enjoyed previous excursions there.
Sometimes there are bargains and sometimes the auctioneer raises a good price for the vendor (thats what it,s all about), the thrill of the auction I guess.
Next one is September.
