Hi Michael, can you cast your mind back to when you had your blue dobro& tell me if it had any support(s) between the neck stick and the back(mine hasnt, but I think the neck stick has been replaced at some time). Thanks for your time Chris

Hi Michael. I have just bought an old fiddle edged dobro that is going to need a new bridge. At the moment it has an ebony bridge which runs the entire length of the slot(so you cant get at the screw) any recommendations for bridge material "ie" mapel with an ebony top or box wood or what have you. Thanke for your time Chris

If I record othe people music I pay to do so, my main giging acoustic is a yamaha fpx 300 (made in Taiwan0 not an expencive guitar but not a copy of anything, however my PA Amp is a Dynacord (made in Germany& built to last) as my local PA man told me ,there is nothing wrong with the sound of some of these amps that are made in China(which he sells) but if you buy one buy two as they can die on you & cant be repaired.if it goes wrong within the year they give you another& if it goes wrong in 13months throw it away.I have nothing against MM guitars as they dont pretend to be anything but MM guitars and are very good value, what I object to very strongly are copys that pretend to be the real thing(any one remember CF Mountain guitars or Gibbon guitars (in the Gibson script) or Shure SM58s with Shure written on them & sold as Shure to some poor unfortunate.

Hi, I dont see any difference in ripping off someones ideas & ripping off someones music.I can buy a shure mic (at least thats what it says on the box)that has been thrown together in China and sounds like crap.I have no problewm with the Chinese coming up with there own ideas but sugesting that its a good thing for them to rip off a company that has produced a good product is never a good thing!!!!(I dont use Highlander pickups but if I wanted one I would save and buy a real one)

Hi, Lists can be pointless but recomendations are always good & heres one. There is a site called "Folkstreams " which is where the Belton Sutherland clip came from & on it you will find some wonderfull full length films about Blues & rural american music(Sam Chatmon Mike Seeger ,Elizebeth Cotton ect) this is strongly recommended : )

Hi ,these are just personal opinions.1 Lace flat pickup.Pro very hot pickup, sounds fine with bronze strings, use it at fairly low volume with a bit of Mic in the mix& it sounds fine.Con ,if you run it at volume it sounds very electric.2 Dave King magnetic pickup, Pro a little thiner in the body than the lace pickup & a warmer sound(to my ear) Con I think that they cost quite a bit more(shipped the lace in from the US&& cost me £100, the Dave king pickup is around £180)3 NRP Hotplate, Pro very impressed with this,my wife who has better ears than mine informed me that it sounded like my guitar only louder,Con They dont fit on every Reso as the holes for the cover plate must match the holes for a NRP(they say that it will fit a vintage National but I have never tried it ) and they are about £380 over here. Here are one or two more options if you dont want to spend loads of money.Schaller do a very thin pickup fot Jazz guitat (listed as the vintage model I think)( that dont sound quite good will fit at the end of a finger board & cost around £40. Con they work best with nickl;e strings. I have used a MicroVox mini instrument mic mounted on the face of the guitar to good effect at lower volumes but it is prone to feed if cranked up to get over a lot of background noise. Hope this helps Chris

Hi again. I tried to get some info off the net but apart from the user manuals can find nothingof use.The spec & weight seem the same as an SM58& as they were being made at the same time I cant see why they were making both.I hoped someone with a long memory had used one & could remember if there was a diference in price and or quality. Thanks for any help Chris

Shure PE86L, came to me with a load of other stuff, not a current model, anyone used them or know anything about them. Sounds to me very like an SM58(but my ears are shot so what do I know) be glad of any inf,age etc.Found a Shure user guid & it stated that this was the best vocal mic in the world but they would say that wouldnt they. I think this is quite an old Mic.Cheers Chris

Hi, its not that the pubs are shutting(Tho there have been pubs shut in the area)its that the council are stopping them from having music by withdrawing there licence.

Having heard of at least 5 venues closing in my area in the last 10 months, one being a pub that has had music in its bar for 100 years. I am wondering if this is a trend nation wide(all it takes here is one complaint to the council wether in ear shot or not & music is stopped} I wonder sometimes where people will find to play in years to come.
