Hi Michael. I have just bought an old fiddle edged dobro that is going to need a new bridge. At the moment it has an ebony bridge which runs the entire length of the slot(so you cant get at the screw) any recommendations for bridge material "ie" mapel with an ebony top or box wood or what have you. Thanke for your time Chris

Hi Chris,
Boxwood if you can get it, or maple. Ebony is too hard & bright. The wood we are now using on MM guitars is spot on. It is far eastern maple and it is just like boxwood.
It sounds to me like you have the wrong spider. On fiddle edge Dobros the bridge saddle is one piece, but the adjustment screw is not under it, it sits just behind it, so the bridge is off centre. I don't have any photos of one, but I am sure there are some on the web somewhere.
Shine On Michael
