Having heard of at least 5 venues closing in my area in the last 10 months, one being a pub that has had music in its bar for 100 years. I am wondering if this is a trend nation wide(all it takes here is one complaint to the council wether in ear shot or not & music is stopped} I wonder sometimes where people will find to play in years to come.

I see a famous 'Half Moon Theatre' in Putney is threatened with closure also ............ looks like it could be back to the ' Bedroom ' once again to carry on playing the guitar.......... it all sad news

in our "neck of the woods", the first palces to go are the those old type boozers with no added value - i.e. no food, no music. The traditional music venues seem to be fareing better, as are those homogenised food establishments - you know the ones i mean - you could be anywhere in the country and see the same fake beams, phots, memorabilia etc. The true music venues seem to be OK - but with cheap booze, not as much money in joe public's pocket - for how much longer?

Hi, its not that the pubs are shutting(Tho there have been pubs shut in the area)its that the council are stopping them from having music by withdrawing there licence.

Where i live there used to be 119 pubs in the area now only a handful are left, my local has good beer, entertainment, and free food on the nights we have entertainment, once a year they put a lorry trailer in the car park and have the bands on the trailer ,because its a charity event people put up with the noise, also we have the world famous (Robin 2) next month Peter Green is playing there not a night to be missed. wolvoboy
