Trev Wilkinson has a hand in most of the Vintage offerings that I've seen and I'd be willing to gamble that he'd have the pick ups configuration base well covered.

The headstock shape is the obvious departure, but this is not a copy so nothing awry with that, however, from personal preference, I would prefer a slightly less fussy headstock profile. Notice the slight deviation in the line of the upper bout where it joins the neck when compared to a Gibson. Bear in mind it only has a maple veneer and not a carved cap, but the savings have to kick in somewhere. Still, the reputation of Vintage as a make is pretty well copper bottomed and it's a very good price. Not really a lover of Lesters myself- I like double cuts, but ain't she purtee!

That would have been the much missed GLR and not the tat it has now become, especially since they shafted Danny.
Another good Throwback Alan.

I learned arpeggios and developed into finger picking specifically from this song (influenced by The Animals' version of course). It has had such an effect on me and my playing style that to this day I seldom strum a chord, if ever in fact. I had no idea of the depth of its history. Good call as usual Alan.

Never say "never". I used to work with a guy (now sadly passed) who refused ro read anything written by a woman. Sad. Life's too short and reading is a blessing. I need to read more fiction, but I don't imagine it will include the subject tome.

That'll be it then. The (relatively) tiny screen on a "smart" 'phone only showing the bottom of the post. No excuse though...

Received wisdom would be to avoid the Corona era Guilds otherwise they're indeed legendary. Sorry for going OT. Maybe I'll start a thread asking for suggestions as to how I can break it in to her indoors...

Yup. Bang to rights! (Sorry mitchfit) I cheated a certain auction facility out of a tiny fragment of its ill gotten inestimable rake off. A bit like Robin Hood if you will! It feels a little like you are strumming a grand piano on your lap!

"So this with the electric pickup should bridge a gap in my collection nicely..."
Hmmm! I recognise that scenario! When I recently purchased a Tacoma built Guild F512, it was to plug the Guild hole together with the 12 string hole. I'm with you though on this one, she's a beauty mitchfit. You have my blessing at least. My problem remains how to tell "Customs and Excise" (or "she who must be obeyed..." -it's still. in the case. "Management" differentiates between guitars, but not black cases- yet! Guilds are not exactly "sleepers"- far from it, but they are better value for money than Gibsons and lose nothing in the quality stakes.
Great catch mitchfit- I'm a bit jealous.

Joe Bonamassa is rumoured to own around 5 or 6 hundred guitars right? It's difficult to imagine anyone with such a habit (and a busy lifestyle too) finding the time or inclination to part with anything from a herd that large, especially such a beautiful old girl.
Unless there was something undesirable about it of course...

Sneaky Pete Kleinhow played on Greg Allman's "Laid Back" album of the 1970s- one recording that never ages.

"These ramblings..." are important historical records that are being collated for the benefit of all. I'm sure that I write on everyone's behalf here Alan and I for one continue to enjoy reading these posts.

My (forum member) friend from Shropshire plays this way. Great because I get to play his guitars too! He has an MM Lightning and finds slide playing a problem though.
