Normally a standard classical case works well (for example a Hiscox.) I would try to arrange that there is no pressure on the strings anywhere in the region of at least the cover plate though. I wouldn't rely on the handrest alone to protect the cone in transit.

They don't cope too well with high sound pressure levels though, as witness the many awful YouTube live gig clips, and Android devices in particular due to the ridiculous Google limitation on being able to turn down the microphone gain. That said, I roundly agree that with a minimum of common sense, the "smart" 'phones do a grand job. Considering...

Harriet, I meant that listening to your clip on a cell 'phone is never going to be the best way to judge objectively, but it still sounded good to me. I have an HTC 'phone which does at least have above average audio playback qualities. What did you think that I may have meant?

Sounds dandy to me Harriet, but a "smart" cell 'phone is not the ideal play back set up.

Sometimes it is what is not said that counts. MM implied that he had no competitive interest because he did not carry a tri-plate in his range. That is the state of affairs despite repeated enquiries, cajoling and encouragement on this forum over the last 8 years (that I'm aware of.) With MM's undisputed knowledge and experience, one should consider why that remains the case, and with Busker now gone, anything else must be subject to the usual caveat emptor. That said (and from my own limited experience with him) I don't think you would have any problem at all with Chicken Bone John.

Things are only worth what folks are prepared to pay for them (as in what the market will withstand) otherwise a Wolfram slide (for example) would not be so expensive. I thought it was a "phial" but nothing surprises me where hoi-poloi is concerned. As long as we know what is meant it is of little importance at the end of the day, just a bit sad. I think I'll pass on this and save up for a Wolfram!

Having once been rebuked on this forum for having the temerity to say that the National guitar headstock does not sit comfortably in my autograb Hercules guitar stands, I am naturally reticent to chime in. However, notwithstanding the foregoing, I can state that my seven cheap-o K&M (Konig and Myers) wall hangers are excellent and in about six years have not damaged any of my guitar finishes or let them drop onto the floor. They are even happy holding up my two Telecasters. I still keep an eye on them because the clutch grab levers on my Hercules autograbs are covered in rubber that has gone sticky. (yucky) My MMB resides in the sitting room like a queen and doesn't enjoy the support of any stands!

Yep. I have one of Ian's crystal bullets which is hollow. It's fantastic and mighty purty too.

Might do with an AC30 where the two channels are out of phase with each other Pete. OK- maybe I haven't yet thought that through properly...

Regarding CW & JL's "Dislocation Blues", I understood that the two collaborated remotely by exchange of recordings, not together in Lang's studio in Australia, although it's fair to say that JL put some of it together posthumously in the aforementioned studio. Still, I could be incorrect which is a fundamental flaw with the wonderful interweb! Great call though.
