Did the first ones not have a bone nut then? As the ones now do.... Jon I don't think it did.

I'm putting this up here for my brother, It's a lovely looker, has the "ribbon mahogany" figure under the sunburst! Showroom condition, MM certificate and case. (bone nut 'cos he can't resist)! £400 + shipping, (he's in Devon). PM me and I'll put you in touch with him.
Keith.

they mount on the bridge plate (semi permanently) and would require an end pin jack. You need to be able to get your hand in the sound hole and be able to get your fingers comfortable to the bridge pins!

I wouldn't use heat or steam, you may soften a joint you don't want to undo!

I have a friend on a Greek luthiers site has built one of these. He calls it a "convertable flat top / resonator". It has a well in it, he can put a cone in or a braced soundboard. I suggested he could make a banjo skin insert for it, he says he's seen it done!

You'll find suitable tuners on ebay for about 5GBP. Just plug the existing holes with match sticks if necessary.

I started building some tools/jigs/moulds early in the summer but the actual build started mid August and I've just finished it (not working full time on it as work got in the way)!! soundcloud.com/keithambridge/apartian-clip
