You could leave it on and spray over it. If done carefully a future owner could remove the paint. There are also some industrial grade self adhesive thin plastics , this could also be reversible. PT Most Chinese made resos have a glued-on head . The head veneer adds a little strength to the joint. I think a little heat would soften the glue and it would peel off, but it is better to leave well alone!

I'd take a high heat hairdrier to it; a sharp knife to pry the overlay away from the head stock to start with, and then a duller butter knife to keep lifting it away as heat is applied. The overlay will most likely be ruined beyond use. I'm assuming the adhesive is not water-based, like horsehide glue, where you would use steam.

If you've just got the guitar live with it for awhile! You'll probably get used to it! I've always thought it was one of the guitars attractive features. Best wishes, John

Hi Simon,
I agree with Pete, you should be careful about removing that plastic overlay. I think would be safer to paint it or stick a veneer over it.

I wouldn't use heat or steam, you may soften a joint you don't want to undo!

I am pretty sure that the green oval logo can be scraped off of the pearloid. I did it on a similar regal.

Someone in the future may want to buy it but decide not to because the pearloid headstock (and decal) is missing.
Just play it.
