Hi Paul,
I just checked your order with Euro Blues Promotions. Apparently it has been posted. If it doesn't arrive by tomorrow or Wednesday, they will send you another one.

The VERY BEST teaching DVD I've ever seen. I usually have a quick gander and never watch these DVD's again.

Hi Paul,
THANK YOU ;D I am very grateful for your kind words and proud of the DVD. If you have any questions about any aspects of learning to play slide guitar, please feel free to ask. If I can't answer you, I know that someone on this forum will be able to.
I love that time late at night when the whole family is asleep. I often do a few hours practice at that time.
I will be playing at Southport with Louisiana Red in April. Please make sure you come and say hello. Southport is a great town. I played there one snowy January night a few years ago!
Shine On Michael.

Hi Michael
Just got the dvd as an Xmas present from my wife (as per my very clear request) and wanted to express my appreciation of your work there. I particularly liked the balance struck between detailed guidance and the watch-(again-)and-work-it-out approach and the way that this let you cover a lot of ground and still focus in on the elements of slide technique, nicely done! (I've done a lot of teaching - not guitar, though and, indeed, not even music, but some things are pretty generalisable and I know good teaching when I see it)
As it happens, I think I was exhibiting every one of the less then helpful "techniques" you associate those unfamiliar with playing slide guitar - I certainly am a member of that subset and am very pleased to have had these things pointed out before they can become bad habits...
Also, while I am dead chuffed to be (almost) playing recognisable classic licks so soon, I can see it is going to take some time and a lot of practice before I get close to having mined all I can from this dvd - so, many thanks

Hi Bod, Thank you - your kind words are very much appreciated. A lot of people have learnt to play from watching this DVD. I am proud of it and always pleased to hear from people who enjoy and learn from it. Anytime you have any questions about the content of the DVD lesson, please don't hesitate to ask me on this thread. The main thing is to KEEP PRACTICING! Shine On Michael

Hi Michael,
I’ve been working through your DVD and have got to a stage in my playing in open G where I want to explore using the chords that you show in conjunction with slide.
Similar to you I wear the slide on my slide on the ring finger and……. here’s where the problem is…..I find fingering the 3 finger chords while wearing a slide very difficult. Is this something that I’m just going to have to strengthen up or do you use 2 finger chords instead (or some other strategy). I guess I'm trying to introduce chords (or at least a thicker sound than single notes)at IV and V
Any tips/advice?
Thanks
John

Hi John,
I use both 2 and 3 fingered chords when I am wearing the slide. It really depends on what I need for the particular piece of music. It is not easy to use the little pinky for fretting chords when you have a slide on the third finger, but after a while as with all these things, it becomes natural.
Tips & advice - just keep doing it.
I am pleased you are enjoying the DVD.

I've just worked my way through the DVD (at last, having accidently thrown out my 1st copy when I tidied up!), and really enjoyed it. It's given me lots of ideas for pieces, including a discordant version of the "African" piece in D.
I'd love to see another DVD - perhaps working through some classic bottleneck pieces with Michael and Gerry C!

Thanks Toom. I am pleased you enjoyed the DVD. Eventually volume 2 will appear, but not for a while as we still haven't filmed the lap-style slide volume 1.

This clip of film from the DVD has recently been put up on You Tube. It shows a minute or so of the lesson as a promotional sample.
