Hello. I ordered mine the 6th of October, didn't see it yet. Hope this is a normal thing though. I understood that the company is based in England, which is near to Holland. Which makes sense, because my experience is that the nearer you order, the longer it takes . Regards, John.

Hi John,
Since the 6th October we have had a mail strike here in the UK. That could well have delayed your DVD. The distributor, Euro Blues Promotions, is always very prompt in mailing out orders of the DVDs, so I am sure it is to do with the strike.
I have forwarded these two messages to Euro Blues Promotions.
Please let me know when your DVD arrives.
Thanks for ordering the DVD,
Shine On, Michael

Hello
Thanks for the answer, I'll just wait some more. On the other hand, I think the British mail should note strike when I order a dvd ;D. By the way, after receiving the dvd, I still need to buy two slides (metal and glass) and a resonator guitar. I do have a Model D, but I want to keep that one in standard tuning as much as possible.
Regards, John.

Hello Mr. Messer. I received my dvd today, so all is well. Did not yet take a look at it, no time, I'll wait till the right moment. Yesterday I received a mail from Euroblues with an explanation (about the postal strike) and an offer to send me another if I would not receive the first one, so, nothing wrong with their customer-care. By the way, I read the text at the back of the case, and one line in particular gave me a good laugh: "To say that Messer is a slide guitarist is like describing Mother Theresa as a nun" . Regards, John.

"To say that Mother Theresa was a nun is like describing Michael Messer as a slide guitarist!" I pleased your dvd has arrived safely. Keep in touch, Shine On, Michael

Hello all I ordered and recieved the DVD a few weeks back and I highly recommend it. I'm sure there are many like me who have have a slide in the guitar case for years and have tinkered with it every now and then with no great success.
The DVD clearly demonstrates the technics, not only the how to's but also the what not to do's.
I look forward to a follow up that takes the techniques to a higher level. Any plans in the pipeline Michael? I know you're busy with new guitars, of which I have my eye on, they look great!
Best Gerard

Hi Gerard,
My apologies for a late reply to your message.
Thank you, I am pleased you are enjoying the DVD. I am planning to make two more in the near future - Volume 2 of Blues Slide Guitar, and lap style slide guitar volume 1.
I had planned to film them this summer, but various projects including my MM Resonator Guitars have kept me pretty busy recently.
Thanks Gerard, Shine On Michael

I had planned to film them this summer, but various projects including my MM Resonator Guitars have kept me pretty busy recently. Hello. That Volume 2 of Blues Slide Guitar, would this be aimed more at actual slidesongs to play (with the use of technique learned at volume 1), or more the technical part of slide playing again? By the way, don't hurry, I'm still busy with volume 1 . Regards, John.

Hi John,
I haven't worked out exactly what the lesson will contain yet, but I do prefer the method of teaching the student how to play and how to encorporate the techniques into their playing, rather than teaching a song. With the right building blocks the student can apply that to whatever song they want to play.
I am pleased you are enjoying Volume 1.
Any suggestions and comments are always welcome.

I am pleased you are enjoying Volume 1. Well, I didn't write that I enjoyed Volume 1, I just wrote that I'm busy with Volume 1 ;D. Just joking, I indeed enjoy the dvd. It's a slow proces, because I'm not just using the dvd to learn slide, but I also use it to start using fingerpicks, resting my pink on the guitar, etc. I mean, I played fingerpickingsongs with my nails for about ten years, and every time I tried fingerpicks in combination with a song that I already knew to play with my nails, it didn't work out at all. So now I started to learn something completely new (for me), which is playing slide from your dvd, and combine this with the fingerpicks. This works very well (although slowly) and on top of that, my reso sounds like it has never done before when played with nails. Regards, John.

Hi Shakeyjake,
They usually arrive very quickly. Until I have contacted Euro Blues Promotions and asked what is happening with your DVD, I cannot giove you an answer.
To enable me to check this properly, could you send me a PM with your name and date of order.
Thanks

I ordered mine a while ago and it arrived quickly but with the centre part that holds the DVD in place completely broken. I didn't bother as I had a spare case.
Any chance of the next DVD having a backing track that can be put on repeat? It would let the pupil practice right away instead of having to record their own backing for exercises such as the one chord jam.
I'm looking forward to the next one although it'll take me a while (forever maybe, I've been trying to play properly for a lifetime and failed so far but that's got nothing to do with the tutor) to get through the first one.
Your DVD is pitched at just the right level or has the right approach in that it *looks* sufficiently easy to be worth trying to do and you have a nice style that is friendly and inviting but doesn't let us off with any sloppy playing. Best tutor I've come across since Hank Marvins! (Different playing style although also a clean style). Bill

Thank you Bill. Your kind words are very much appreciated. Regarding backing tracks - you should check out 'Play The Blues'. It is a 3 CD set of blues backing tracks that I recorded with my band back in 2002. There is a page on my website about it. Play The Blues (listed as PLAY THE BLUES - GET IT LICKED) is available from www.musicroom.comApologies about the DVD case being damaged. That happens in the post. They are always checked before they are packaged and posted, so any damage happens during transit. I keep a few spare CD & DVD cases around because mail-ordered stuff often arrives with a damaged case. Thanks Bill, Shine On Michael
