Hi Michael. its funny you should say that i was thinking along the same lines. if you could send me a rough idea of a workshop/concert and how they are generaly arranged i will get on the case. i could probably advertise this in the bromsgrove advertiser to get the ball rolling.

Hi Gareth and Bromsgrove sliders! I will be there tomorrow night with slide heated up.The concert idea sounds good, maybe it needs persuing with the Landlord. Will discuss that with you later, have ideas about that.Just alternating thumb and single first string for Soul of a Man.Open D is sometimes referred to as the 'Melody Key' as the tune can be played can be played on the first string.Maybe if folks can bring along a portable tape recorder,my students have done that and found it very useful. See ya tomorrow, Slidin' Steve

Hi Gareth,
I'll get in touch with a PM next week and see if we can get the concert idea off the ground.
The Soul of a Man by Blind Willie Johnson is a wonderful piece of music to learn. However, as a song to break into BWJ's style of playing & performing songs, it is a difficult one to get, especially for learners. Good luck with it!

hi chickenbone last sunday was really good , we bassed the first hour on opeg G, looking at the 'Walking blues' (I think) and then finished off the night in open D. going back over 'soul of a man' and something else. it was really helpfull having sliding steve there, although i hope he didn't feel to pressured and put on the spot. steve showed us some variations of chords usefull in both keys and some different riffs.
Hopefully we will see you at the next one on the 4th of nov. let us know and Ian can bring the buiscuits

Hi Gareth, Thanks for Sunday night, that was a great opportunity for some serious tuition on slide guitar. Really appreciated Slidin Steve's patient teaching, and just listening to him play was amazing, he is one seriously talented guy. I think anybody in this area into slide and resonators should not miss these sessions. Regards Alan.
