Hello, I'm in France, and regarding second hand guitars and all types of goods coming from outside the EU, I'm sure VAT (+ customs) applies on the price of the guitars + shipping + insurance . So I guess it's the same principle in UK. It applies also on guitars sent to USA for a repair, even under warranty. I met a guy (a brit living in France) who had bought a brand new NRP in EU, so he paid the EU VAT. Some years later he sent his NRP to California for a repair under warranty, and when the guitar was back in France, he had to pay the VAT again on the declared value of the guitar !!
I have some issue with the finish a NRP M1 I bought used years ago (from the late Chris Steinhauer). NRP would refinish the guitar for free, but I can't manage to organize the shipping and avoid paying the VAT when the guitar will come back to France.
Nicolas

Some years ago while attending at a workshop (I believe it was with the late Alain Giroux) a fellow asked me to show him how to play Mississippi blues on his Washburn. The guitar looks like 5slide's. I remember the really sharp v-neck and a pleasant sound. Here's the video of Mississippi Blues demo (with a few french comments :-)

Ralph Bown from York builds ladder braced guitars. His ladder-braced 12string are excellent, Catfish Keith has 2 (and I have 1 :-)

Hello Peter, I did a photo album for NRP : goo.gl/photos/qoP2uYAh99Z4hqwR6The first photos were taken in december, and the others a few weeks ago Seeing all these blemishes and their size, it's pretty sure it wasn't my fault :-) Nicolas

Hi again, How many other people have NRP guitars with this problem ? My M1 Tricone (made in 2010) has the same problem, but worse with large areas looking bad. I bought the guitar 2 years ago from a good member of this forum, the guitar looked fine then, but I noticed small varnish issues one year later. I took some photos in december 2015, and took again photos in may 2016 and the problems are growing. I have also a NRP El Trovador (made in 2007) that I bought used in 2011 from another forum member :-). Both guitars stay on a stand in my living room and the Trovador is still looking fine I sent a mail at NRP, and they made me the same offer : they'll refinish the guitar which is really great from them, but I'm responsible for shipping, which is at the moment VERY expensive (around 450€ to send the guitar to California !!!). I'm currently exchanging emails with NRP and I believe they are doing their best to address this problem.

Alaska Piks - We all have our preferences and tastes in these things, but the Alaska Picks look and feel a bit weird to me. I can't see how they can perform as well as a regular shape fingerpick and thumbpick. Can anyone point me at a well known world class player that uses them? Shine On Michael I believe that Chris Proctor uses them : www.chrisproctor.com/guitars-and-gear
