This year continues with trimming down the collection of curios, oddities and Americana related stuff as I focus on outstanding projects both guitar and motoring related (the wife also wants stuff done on the house but still managing to to dodge that so far!!!) Epiphone electar 1937,This is the three knob variant as played/discovered by Phil X on you tube (similar not this actual one) Spanish neck guitar with the Epiphone horseshoe and fantastic condition for year. Two tone variations and one volume. All original aside from the strings of course. Vintage case in good condition It makes a great noise through the valve amp and is polite acoustically, the various tone variations all colour the pallet from dark muted rhythm to bright treble for home practise but is really an electric guitar (one of the 1st). However I have only one pair of hands and space is becoming a premium, I welcome personal inspection or can post (Parcelforce) really only looking UK to avoid complicated form filling, looking to achieve £1500. Drop me a line. I will be visiting the Bristol guitar show tomorrow (14/04/24) and can bring it along if a personal inspection is required. If you see me there remind me not to buy any more guitars !!! Regards Lee

The Auction was taking place last year but events took another turn with Bernie passing, legalities and family intervention has re-scheduled to June, I have had a look at the current page and did not see any Nationals, but there are further catalogues to be formulated so not sure if there is more of Bernie's backline Amps etc We will have to wait and see. I have no great 1st hand experience other than having seen Whitesnake back in the day, at the Obligatory monsters of rock, but of greater interest I think at a London venue the Moody Marsden band came on to support who ever I was there to see that night and they were superb, with some great slide thrown in. Good memories for us all. Lee

Ok I have joined the club, it should have happened much sooner but there have been plenty of distractions to this point, the guitars have a similar pedigree but each cover a different pallet, I will review-in time as need to get back to the latest member of the family.

I have seen a few of these up close as pop over to Dave Kings workshop from time to time, I saw them in development and the finished article and can concur they are great guitars not only in the aesthetic recreation of a lost manufacturing process but the tone and sustain is very addictive, I have a vintage one but still hanker after one of the current ones.
What I am trying to say is buy with confidence

I think there is mileage in moving stuff around the country, as much as I fancied Pocklington I couldn't be arsed with the journey, similar our northern players may not fancy Folkstone (or music town as it is trying to re brand it's self) The Folkstone one may work for me unfortunately the mother in law is also there so may need some excuse or other to pop out if can engineer a visit.

It was a well worn Triolian and he also favoured a 50@s student valco.

I have a few from Ian, an older brass one also, I use what is close to hand, chopping and changing does not hamper too much, I do prefer the domed ones from a personal aesthetic.

I have a Gann Dobro in all walnut with maple bindings, I stripped it down and it has been awaiting repair for quite a while now (well only ten years or so) Nice solid wood construction with soundposts as opposed to a well, mine has a bolt on neck. mine is a keeper if that tells you anything. Regards That is the Gann on the far right before I stripped it down Lee
