I’ve always found it a numbers game with gigging gear.
It’s a matter of time for a knock or damage to appear.

Hey Michael.
It’s sounding fine and dandy and now nearly a week later seems to have settled back to very near its original tone.
I will order another and get it put in and then keep this reshaped cone as the future spare.
I use the foam cases and never have a problem normally. It was only a gig in Morley 15 mins away from the house but it got a knock and I can’t be sure by who. Gah!
Enjoyed using the Trojan and it may have set us off on a quest to use vintage nationals on stage. Time will tell…
For anyone interested here is Week 4 of the tour diaries…

Used to be mine this!! I bought it circa 2015 off eBay from a guy that used to sell radio parts and cool old acoustics that he’d fix up. Had Cornwall in the user name but a quick look and he does show up on there anymore. Had it 2-3 years and sold it to John who books for The Cluny venue in Newcastle. Left it for him to collect at another gig I did there. I used it for slide numbers with The Washboard Resonators about 1-2 years and eventually bought a 1.5 Tricone so let it go. The headstock break happened at a gig sadly. The guy I bought it off didn’t think it was made by any of the bigger companies. The top is massively thick compared to most. He reckoned it was likely a small time local builder circa 1890s - 1910s. Very loud and good sounding. The pickup came with a cheap 12 string I bought in Whitby around 2008. I stripped the screw on it trying to tighten it on a gig with a knife because it came loose. I actually loved the sound of this guitar but bought a nice old Washburn so my Parlor needs were met. It clearly was refinished badly with some kind of fence varnish! I wanted my collection to be made of clean and straight old guitars that sound and play good. Found a pic on IG from around when I stopped using it. http://instagram.com/p/BQ2v0SCB6tt

The style 0 cone got squashed at a gig by someone moving gear. It went to Steve at Beltona and he reshaped it. Works fine but perhaps has lost 15% tone. Need to get a new cone ordered. I used my 1935 Trojan for a week while Steve had the Style O. It was awesome actually and got lots of lovely comments from guitar types. 😎

We’re trying to get around as much as poss but sometimes venues or areas don’t lineup.
Lots of reticence from venues generally wren booking these gigs over the summer.
In the meantime do follow what we’re up to with our tour diaries…

Awwww!
Thanks Michael. This is kind and we’ve had a little spike in ticket sales this evening!
Hoorah!!
The general consensus from our pals that do gigs on ticket sales is that they’re down by 20-50%.
TBH we’re looking forward to getting out in support of our new album The Streamlined Rag.
Thanks and we hope to meet resonator fans new and old!!

Thanks for the share and the fact you noticed the cover art.
The artwork was done by our pal Jake Smithies whose dad has Tiny Tim’s Beltona ukulele that he was playing the night he died.
They play together in a band called Dead Mans Uke and our Sheffield tour date is a double header with The Washboard Resonators & Dead Mans Uke.
Presales are going well…
We’ll be getting the physicals in over the next week or so and will get them sent out - I see a few of you bought it!
Thanks again!!

Many of you will have known or have had guitar dealings with Chris. Sadly he passed away last year but at the request of his widow we wanted to get all his recorded music available to hear. You’ll find all six of his albums (mostly recorded in 2008) on this bandcamp link… washboardchrissteinhauer.bandcamp.com/Unfortunately, the now old blue copy-disc CD’s were in some cases part corrupted so I’ve had months of fun using different systems to try and revive as many tracks as possible. Hence one album here only being seven tracks - I couldn’t get more from the CD. I know there are more physical copies (that I’ll get when collecting another guitar from his widow soon) so can try and fill the gaps later from other copies. In the meantime it’s an astonishingly wide range of material across six discs with lots of Leon Redbone, Stefan Grossman, Mississippi John Hurt and Blind Boy Fuller inspired music from a lovely chap that had made music his living for decades especially in the east of England. It’s been a pleasure to get this ready and share it with the blues community. I hope it’s of interest to many of you that knew him. 🎵🎵🎵🎵
