I've been working through John Miller's Country Blues Guitar in Spanish and Vestapol Tunings DVD set. I tried working on both the Spanish and Vestapol songs at the same time, but I ended up getting confused which song goes where. So I'm sticking with Spanish/Open G (downtuned to F) for now.
Right now I'm working on Bad Luck Dice, but I don't agree with how he plays the verse parts, so I'm working out how to play it my own way. Someone posted a topic about learning by ear -- this might be one way to go about it, start off with a base tab but taking it in your own direction.
I've also been composing songs for my new band. Sticking with Spanish tuning for that, but moving beyond blues -- I'm discovering new chords beyond the I-IV-V, which is pretty cool!
Meanwhile, I'm in also in the process of figuring out how to play Pale Blue Eyes (Velvet Underground, probably my most favorite song of all) in Spanish tuning... in fact, I'm beginning to wonder if the original was recorded in this tuning as well?

Currently I'm learning Paris Texas, Hard time killing floor blues, M & O Blues, and also working on the rhythm of Poor Black Mattie. I've made progress with Death don't have no mercy and Dark was the night and keep revisiting Mississippi Blues improving it slowly. Struggling at the moment with 32/20 blues but one to come back to and Streamline Special is gradually coming together. Next up is Bye & bye,I'm going to see the king. What I need is to learn to play with 'balls' or 'meaning', something Stefan Grossman talks about online. Orbital.

Not keen on the Tom Feldman version at all. Very nice and clean and all, but soulless. TT

Hi TT, I was thinking the same thing on this particular Tom Feldmann lesson. There is something missing, but as dbs says,it's good guidance. Did Son House play with fingerpicks? Blah 148 on youtube has a great selection of songs to learn and also covers this one. I really enjoyed your version of The Prodigy 'Invaders must die' by the way. As I'm mostly on an old android phone,I miss out on alot of links on here, but found that on youtube. Orbital.

the main theme from the ARENA bbc arts film CURSE OF THE FIRE BEETLE. backing track by RAINER PTACEK. in open E tuning, he played i believe a model o 14 fret national.
i play it on a 12 fret reso, open d capo 2. i recorded it some time ago on vhs from the tv, and recorded it to mini disc via a mike from the tv. lost the vhs but still have the audio. the first 4 bars are easy enough, bar 5 is starting to make sense.hope my ears dont fail me. jim the welder.

Recently had a crack at Death Letter Blues after the above postings and throughly enjoyed it. Made a quick vid to send to a nephew of mine whom I'm trying to encourage into a bit of slide.
Have just bought this Aria Meister and I'm just loving it. Have the raised the action up now and it's playing slide a lot better. Recently getting brave enough to open my mouth while playing!
