I hear a British song played through British Marshall amps.

Like so many other things in life, you had to be there to enjoy it! (Being wasted probably helped a bit!)
Best wishes to you all, John

I haven't heard this album yet, but over the years I've heard Yngwie play a few blues tunes and I just love it, haha!! Big, big fan of his since the late 80's.. He's got great feel for non-classical rock as well, amazing vibrato. I will not buy this album but I totally dig the idea, he's the real king of Sweden!

He scallops his fretboard(s) like Richie Blackmore (and no doubt others too?) This (theoretically) ups the ante for vibrato, but I imagine imposes a need for finer control over finger pressure on the strings. If there's any truth in that then I think it's fair to recognise the skill in the same way we do for touch and low-ish action with a slide. I still cannot go for all this shredding, but I do sneakily acknowledge the skill of the exponents. A bit like jazz in some respects- most guitarists would like to be able to say they can do it even if many of them have no desire to do so.

Drop the clutch and do one! The cringe levels peaked for me watching that.

Like climbing Everest, watch it on the telly and think 'why do they bother', when we'd probably go if it wasn't for all that fuss! Swedish as well! If he's good enough for bottle neck John, then he's good enough for me!
Best wishes to you all,John

Jeff Beck summed it all up in an interview some 25 years ago when he said 'I don't know what it is they're after but they all seem to be playing the same thing' With all due respect to Bottleneck John (A fine exponent of blues guitar if I may say) I suppose it's the aural equivalent of running out of the sauna and leaping into the snow while being beaten with twigs! STOP PRESS. I actually found the interview--great piece! Worth watching the whole clip but otherwise start at 4:28.

I hear a British song played through British Marshall amps. I thought the same thing when I saw Led Zeppelin in 197?...

Great call M.
After seeing that many years ago on iPlayer, I contacted a "dealer" in DVDs and bought a copy. I loved it so much that when the BBC eventually decided to release it, I bought the legit copy too. It's the correct thing to do. The BBC one is longer by a handful of numbers, but it does not sound as "sparkly", all muted by comparison. The result is that I always play the bootleg. Go figure.
Let's not forget Vinnie, Tal and Jason too. An awesome tight unit.
