Is there a thread concerning Michael's unique 12 string resonator? I am interested in the history of it and would love to see some pictures please!!! Jon before (and after)!

It is many years ago, but I'm pretty certain I remember seeing the video that accompanied the song. In it Paul was playing bass, and behind him on a stand was a style 1 tricone.. Nice and shiny! I always wondered how many viewers 'got it'.. I've been trying to find the video on the net with no success. Does anyone else remember it or, even better have a source? Thanks, Colin..

Hi Rob,
Great blog, and welcome here! I'd second Pascal's suggestion that you get a hold of Ken Emerson, who I have met many times, he is a remarkable player. I believe he is back living on Kauaii again.
Also as far as luthiers go, Michael Dunn in Vancouver is a must. Apart from being a veteran Gypsy Jazz guitarist and accomplished Hawaiian style lap player Michael has built many Weissenborn and Knutsen style instruments over a long career. He is now pretty well retired, but would make a fascinating subject for an interview. Aloha, Colin

And if you want to preserve that shiny tin from the debilitating effect of the sea salt, I'll give then a good home on Anarchist Mountain, BC, Canada's only desert..

Aloha Stuart, Lee and other harties...
Methinks 'tiz time for a new nom de plume Stuart.. Your move to the 'wet west coast' (Shame it wasn't the Canadian equivalent, AKA Vancouver, would be good to see you again) Canadian joke "How can you tell if someone is from Vancouver?" Answer "They have moss growing on their back" Could easily translate to Brixham.. No? ;-)
So now that Marshcat has relocated from the marshy wastelands to the sea, should he now become a 'Seacat'? Let's form a vaguely orderly queue to venture new names..
And.... Congrats on the new venue, hokum rules ok!

Michael, I have a case Keith made for my Aragon, I sold the guitar last year, but kept the case, it went out in it's original one... I'm not sure how I'd get it back to the UK, but before investigating that would it fit your need? It has Keith's UK address etc on the nameplate so I wouldn't anticipate agro from HMG & UK Customs. Email me...?
And Chris, I'm really sorry to hear your news, I feel for you! Where are you? I occasionally get asked for Caltons, sold a couple of used ones in the last 12 months. I'm in BC, Canada BTW.

1st photo, flowers on back, tricone neck is mine.. (I have another up here in Canada ;-) It is hard to say how many, but I'd venture at least 20 scattered around the globe. The early one's had no serial nos, so it is hard to track them, though some have a number hand written inside the body. There was an even rarer one with the gent in swimsuit on surfboard(!) decal in Scotland many years ago, sadly I've lost track of that one!

perhaps a MM blues is the ticket to joy. hamilton, I think you've answered your own question there! In terms of value for money, AND playability I have to say that an OMI of uncertain ancestry is no competitor for any of the MM guitars.

At one point 14:00 he flips over his style 2 Don and says the engraving was done by folks moonlighting from the Selmer factory.... I wonder where that notion came from? Or was it the copy that Steve Evans had made from it that he was holding.. ?

Rik,
Is there any paint discolouration where the neck heel meets the body to indicate it once had a square neck fitted?
