Keith is back. Keith was never a show-off (both as guitarist and vocalist), but he's got a certain charm.

Hi there !
Currently, I'm loving this alternate take version of Muddy Waters' recording "Sad, Sad Day". This one is played super slow. Cool vibrato on Jimmy Rogers' guitar, or is it Muddy's ? Little Walter, as per usual, is ace on harmonica.

Little Walter, as per usual, is ace on harmonica. I have never quite worked out what is going on there. I think it might be an overdub and that is why it's so loud in the mix. It sounds like Muddy's playing and Muddy's slide intro and outro are much quieter than the vibrato guitar, which is why I think the vibrato guitar is overdubbed onto the track. No wonder it became an alternate take, it's fun to hear but it is not their best moment. Shine On Michael

A mate turned me onto this lad on Friday. Really young and really old school. You missed that I posted about Nat Myers sometime last summer when his debut album, Yellow Peril, was released. Nat is in his late thirties, so not really that young. I like where he's coming from and Yellow Peril is a great debut album. I like that he writes and doesn't keep on recycling the same old songs. He does write in the style of the records he listens to, but don't we all. I also like that he is making full use of modern technology to create his traditional sound, rather than trying to emulate a 1930s recording set up. Nat is a Korean US resident and was "discovered" and signed by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. Shine On Michael

I haven't seen this for years. Some lovely playing here from Carlos Santana, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt and Ry Cooder and Charlie Musselwhite. Of course they are all in the court of John Lee Hooker.

Bio info says Nat Myers is actually 32 or 33 years old. He was born in Kansas, 1991. He's got an old soul though!

I stand corrected. I thought he was born in 1986, but you are right. Apologies to Nat!
33 is not really that young. This is young.....
Muireann Bradley is still at school and is only 17 years old.

It's Tampa Red's sweet playing. I was listening to this track over and over not long ago.

Time hear how sublime slide playing can be, incomparable It was a winning combination of Ma Rainey's songwriting and voice, Georgia Tom's piano playing and Tampa Red's slide guitar. I have always loved Tom's piano playing, his timing and sense of rhythm are impeccable, and Red's playing fits so well with it. Georgia Tom eventually turned away from the blues and as Thomas A. Dorsey he wrote and recorded some of America's finest gospel music. This one I have shared on here before, is Thomas with Sallie Martin singing along to their original recording of 'If You See My Saviour' written by Thomas Dorsey in 1926 while he was playing with Ma Rainey's Wild Cats band.
