On CD. Both good albums. I remember getting Sam's album in its original package in 1978 I think it was, I was very excited. Around that time I used to go and see Sam, playing at the Half Moon in Putney. A few years on and I got to know Sam and his father, Sammy Mitchell, who was a well known Hawaiian steel guitarist in the 40s and 50s. Steve, I have also known for many years, in fact since around the time that album was released in 1988. My debut album came out at around the same time and we were often featured on the same radio shows. We met at Cambridge Folk Festival where I was invited to play with Steve and Brendan Croker, which was a lot of fun. I spoke with Steve a few days ago. He is well and enjoying life on the North Yorkshire coast. Shine On Michael

This is alright... My friend Robbie McIntosh doing what he does so well. This is Robert Palmer's Sailing Shoes from the album Sneaking Sally Through The Alley. The percussionist in Robbie's band, Jody Linscott, played on the original recording.
Thanks to Now Then for sharing this video on socials.

Shine On Michael That’s a pretty great version of Sailin’ Shoes there. Robert’s Sneaking Sally is my favourite album of his - the opening 1,2,3 of Sailin’ Shoes/ Sneakin’ Sally / Hey Hey Julia is a brilliant album opening. Every time I see/hear Robbie play he is so brilliant. Thanks for posting this video. Cheers Andy

I was acquainted with and worked on a project of Lenny Kaye's many years so I was pleased to stumble upon his interview with the NY Guitar festival, which included him playing lap steel - he also does in an interview with Rutgers Magazine. He was/is with Patti Smith as her guitarist, collaborated with Waylon Jennings for Jennings autobiography " Waylon: An Autobiography" and also was supportive to extraordinary rock poet Jim Carroll and to a lesser degree Johnny Thunders, among other ventures in his long successful career.

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001vm2t?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobileThere’s not much blues on national radio (in the UK) so I usually tune in to the BBC radio 2 Blues show ( though it is often more a show with songs linked to the blues rather than stuff you would find filed under blues in a record shop) Radio Shetland has a blues show ( once a month) which is more heavily blues based ( though the opening couple of numbers this month are on the Heavy side if your only into Chicago) Pete

RadioPlayer is a great app for listening to shows that are out of reach of a regular radio. The IBBA (Independent Blues Broadcasters Association) has something around a hundred shows listed. www.bluesbroadcasters.co.ukJazz FM on Sunday at 5pm with David Freeman, is a great one. Bishop FM in the North East with Gary Grainger is another.....and so on. Check out the IBBA and you'll find dozens. While monitoring the release of my new album I listen to radio shows in the US, Australia, New Zealand, mainland Europe, in fact all over. There are some great shows. UK time 11:30pm on a Saturday night Brothers Of The Blues on WLTH 92.7 FM from Indiana & Chicago. They have an app WLTH. They play great music. Gil Anthony's Blues in Florida is another good one. There are shows that play what you are calling pure blues and there are shows that use the title loosely, you just have to hunt around and the IBBA is a great place to start. Shine On Michael
