Hi again !
I forgot to say, although it's maybe obvious, that once I switched to that metal barrel type socket, all the hum went away, without the need to pay a wire from the tailpiece to the ground of the jack socket. The ONLY problem with the barrel-type jack socket I used is that it tightens with a nut, from the inside - so, being able to disconnect the cable leads from the junction box allowed me to attached the barrel socket without getting caught up in a connected, short cable. Once I was sure I had the socket on tight, I connected the two wires back in.
I don't have a stick-on-guitar-body type magnetic pickup to compare with but this MM/Sixtus tricone pickup sounds good - especially on the trable strings. It's a bit more electric guitar on the wound strings - the 6th string the most, less resonator sounding.
The pickup output signal is quite strong though, considering there is no preamp - I'm very impressed with that.
Overall the pickup is good though. Need to test it more. My eldest boy still has school exams for another 12 days so I'm not allowed to make much noise in the meantime, so testing is a bit limited, when my son has 15min breaks from studying !

Here is a video of forum member "Now Then...." AKA Chris Martin, playing his 12 string Beltona fitted with the prototype T-bug. The sound we are hearing is the guitar through the PA system.
Now then.... I like your arrangement, it works well.

T-bug #4 has landed! I’ll install it next week and share thoughts, photos and video of the procedure and result. 🎼😄👍🏼 Looking forward to hear it!! 🏆🤩

Hey brother !
I know YOU won't have any problems installing this pickup. The pickup's magnet is quite strong - so if your Tricone has a steel well, you might not need to stick the pickup onto the well (the magnetic pull is enough !). I used a steel washer (with a hole in the middle) to raise the pickup above the pan screw that was in the way. I glued that washer to the pan (it should be reversible enough) and the magnet (with the adhesive strip on it's underside) was removed -so I had enough pickup clearance with the underside of the T-bar. You use a lot more magnetic pickups on your reso's so I (we) will be very interested on your thought about this pickup.

Wow that’s sounds fantastic!!!!! Just like the magnaphonic
I’m excited to see this applied to single cones! It just makes so much sense.

OK let’s do this. Everything makes sense except the clear plastic disc. What’s that for? Assuming the red from p/u is ‘hot’

Hi there !
The clear plastic disc was on the top of the pickup - covering the coil, on mine. Has yours come off then ? Or does your pickup already have a clear plastic disc on the top, around the polepiece ? If so, maybe the separate disc is an extra, not intended to go with your pickup system ??

Hi, I don't know where this transparent disc is coming from, I can't recall having put that - it's a mystery for me. So leave it out I would suggest.
I hope everything goes smoothly apart from the mysterious disc, looking forward to reading your comment.
Yes, red is hot and dark is the ground.

By the way, you might have wondered about the beer bottle cap. It's a magnetic deflector that shall prevent a shipment from getting stuck to the steel of a parcel sorting machine.
I used the bottle caps I had at hand (drunk by yours truly). Future series will get nice blank ones.

OK sorted. A hole had already been drilled in the well so that saved one job. All the screws in the well were the same, round topped, so glued a washer over the central screw so the pickup would have a flat surface to stick to, fed the wires through the hole and connected the p/u to jack. Then put it all together again. Biff bash bosh. There’s not much of a gap between the P/u and metal plate on the t-bar but it works. If it needs to be increased I’ll replace the round head screw and re-seat the p/u. Played it through a 5w valve amp and a pignose, sounds good, sounds like a resonator I will revisit in light of feedback on the thread. Next time will fit the Jack to the body!!

However, I think the pickup is too close to the detector strip. It could do with being a little further away, a mm or two. BUT....having done that you may prefer it close like it is now. These are still in the testing stage, so all this is very helpful. It is of course fine to plug these into any amplifier, but to get a clean and proper acoustic type of sound, an acoustic amp or PA system will always be better. Thanks Shine On Michael

Thanks Michael,
I think the sticky pads will be 1st to go, that'll save a couple of mm
