Not so far, the BBC went from series 8, episode 5. to series 5 episode 11. So the rest of series 8 seems to be on hold.
Any forum members work for the BBC?

David Paynton's National Duolian guitar. His family ran a music shop Reading and David was a friend of my late friend, Terry Clarke.

That was a difficult thing to watch for me. First, because they showed photos of my dear late friend, Terry Clarke, as a young man before I knew him, and secondly because the luthier was clearly out of his comfort zone and should not have been called in to do that job. He made many mistakes that were typical of what luthiers that don't know about Nationals always make, including his basic diagnosis of what wrong and what was required.
The whole thing is proof the reason we only recommend a small handful of luthiers to work on these instruments.
Terry would have been jumping up and down knowing he was on BBC 1 last night!

Did that cone look ‘squashed ‘ ?
Any how , looks like he didn’t do any damage when he chopped the saddle out before removing the biscuit. Pete
And why didn’t I patent the ‘Rock and Roll’ neck rest?

Hi Michael, I wondered if you would be shouting at the TV! Lol! Although I know it's not really the show to do it, but I thought a bit of information about resonator guitars would not have gone amiss. Sad about your friend, but memories live on through music.
Best wishes to you all, John

...I winced when he began to chisel out the old saddle from the biscuit - was it still attached to the cone? 😲

I wouldn't know where to start, but I think he may have damaged the cone, realised what he was doing and then removed it. I wasn't too happy about cleaning a beautiful fragile duco finish with methylated spirits and elbow grease. I have never heard of anyone doing that before. It ended up shiny?
I guess we are the worst (or maybe the best) possible audience for such a thing, but he was clearly out of his comfort zone.

Hi there !
Thanks for the link, catsmiler !
The fretboard extension seemed to have two extra dots (in wood) to hide a further two screws. I wonder if those were there originally or was this done to the guitar by the repair guy ?
The bit that made me cringe the most was when the guy was leaning on the cone, whilst cutting off the saddle, as if he had no idea he was about to squash the cone ! Also, the owner said he couldn't find anyone suitable to work on the guitar. Doh ! I just got back a green duco 1935 Duolian, from Steve Evans, of Beltona, having had an expert neck reset. Guitar plays ace again ! That's who he should have taken the guitar to.
