I hear a rumour that the Guitar was bought by someone in the Manchester area and said person will let you all know when it arrives. Come on then. What’s lurking under that cover plate?!

He's in Derby now so it wasn't him.

Not Wayne then - he lives around Prestbury somewhere.

I don't think the seller was the sharpest chisel in the toolbox, if you know what I mean. I didn't hear from him for 24 hours after I'd paid, hence the lack of announcements. Anyway, it's here in Saddleworth, Yorkshire (postal address Oldham) This is the 14th National I've had since 1970 I think, but I only keep a couple at a time. A brief survey reveals : new cone, biscuit and saddle, look like NRP. Everything else, in my opinion, original. Coverplate is definitely of the period, but it's been chrome plated. Action at the 12th fret is a measly 3mm and the saddle is full height. Neck is straight as can be. Case is superb, I'd have paid £300 for that to put my Style O in. Interesting envelope in the case dated 1932 ?? Might be a re-issue or a commemorative. It only remains to tune it up and play some tunes...............Yahoo !

Davey, It looks good. A nice deal. From looking at the photos it looks like the neck has been off at some point. What is the serial number?

HI Michael, it's 1647P. I think it has had a neck reset now I have a closer look. The dots have been out and the heel looks a bit freshly cut. The intonation is spot on. The neck's a perfect angle & the fretboard lines up with the top of the biscuit with a full height saddle. It plays well though the frets are a bit low on the first five, I'm fairly sure it's never had a refret. The patina on the paintwork is fabulous. Even the headstock looks okay, the rhinestones look to have been red with JH and a heart in the central strip. I'm pretty thrilled with it to be honest !

Hi there !
Good catch !
The coverplate is chrome, not nickel-plated ? Looks the same condition and colour as the tailpiece

Yes definitely Chrome but it's been there a long time. 50's I'd guess.
