Very sad news indeed, we've lost a gentleman of the musical community... ... I'm french, never met him in flesh, but bought him the 1929 Hula Girl Triolian (he was preferring his brass fiddle edge Dobro). I remember having a quick discussion with a nice, opened & funny guy who made one of my little dreams becomes true. Didn't knew him once again, but I felt he was moved by music and it was surely a pleasure to deal with someone like him. My thoughts to his family & friends, will play some tunes for him on this triolian tomorrow...

Hello alex, What is specifying the inside tag on yours, please ? I've got the same exemplar from 2013, reading "AJ RED SPRUCE" on the inside tag, and I was wondering if yours was something like "AJ RED SPRUCE SPECIAL" or "AJ RED SPRUCE LT". Mine seems to have the look and the smell of EIR back & sides, but as the serie of yours is so close, I'd like to be sure... Great instrument by the way, best wishes !

While we are talking about french guitarist on resonator guitars, I particularly appreciate Patrise Gobeau...

Now searching its new custodian for £3195... I propose this price to MM forum members first, before editing my reverb announce next week. By the way, please, don't hesitate to post me any question or offer.

Hello resotonic,
I've had quite a few of Valco guitars, wood & fiberglass bodies: Airline Triple pickup (wood), Supro Coronado (2 PU, fiber), Supro Lexington 12 string (2 PU), Airline Folkstar/Vagabond with added Barcus Berry pickup, National Val-trol (2 PU+ Silversound, wood), Supro Martinique (2 PU+Silversound, fiber), and the Supro Belmont resoglass with one treble PU that I still have & play.
To be franck, I've never found a regular use to the silversound PU. Woodbodies are pretty heavy, but I must admit that the resoglass & aluminium-core neck combination provides the sounds I prefer (overdriven with a tube amp). The neck & treble combination is surely the more useful (Coronado, etc...), but those single coil Valco PU's with high output give satisfying basses with a treble one.
Eastwood guitars took the cool aspect of it but won't provide you the original sound, the design is just too different (materials, etc...).
Noah Miller can also gives you his feeback, I remember the Valco Pages forum he managed ten years back or so, it was a nice space of information about it...
Sorry, no pictures from me, photobucket got me since they became non-free.
Alexandre

Seen on her Facebook, Kathy Wingert realized a 6 strings tricone guitar with 7 sub-basses on a single-cone in the "rat rods" inspiration... ... no sound samples at this step, and if it's aesthetically not my cup of tee, the angles between tailpieces & bridges seems very important. Anyway, here's what I call a challenge !
