This is likely to be a very contentious thing to suggest and I may be hopelessly out here but some time ago I tried the same exercise.
Don't hold me to this but I would suggest:....
Tricones Square ist run 4500
Tricone Round 1500
Silver Ukes 350
Silver Mandolins 500
Tenors/plectrums 1500
Style 0 12fret 6000
Style 0 14fret 700
Style 0 14fret no prefix 2000
Dons 150
triolians wood 1000
triolians 12 fret P/W 8000
triolians 14 fret no prefix 2000
triolians tenors/plec 1500
triolians mands, ukes 600
duolians 12 fret 8000
duolians 14 fet 5500
duolians no prefix, O &E 3000
Chicago A,B & C 19000
Chicago L & G 5000
El Trovadors/Estral/Aragons etc 1600
Trojans T series 5000
Trojans Z series 3000
Rositas 3000
It is completely impossible to separate out guitars from lap steels, from ukes etc, because the largest number series were the Chicago numbers and were all sequential. Some of the number series seem start rather obscurely in the 7000s or the 9000s - so they must be continuations of some other run. The 'No prefix' series for instance has over 7000 items in it. It MIGHT include all three no prefix instruments - Style 0s, Duolians and Triolians - so I've split it into thirds as a 'best guess'. As I said at the beginning, there really is no way of creating totals out of this vague collection of numbers. However I would certainly suppose there are at LEAST the numbers above in existence...... somewhere over 80,000!
As an addition, it is worth considering that following this collection of Nationals from the pre war era, the Valco company produced at least an additional 250,000 items!! up to 1968.
