Hi Keith, I am very impressed. It looks fantastic - Well done! One thing I have noticed. It may just be the photo, but your tailpiece doesn't appear to be resting on the coverplate properly? I know the tailpiece you are using, compared to the ones we use it is quite flat and could do with the front edge being bent down to touch the coverplate. You may find that getting one of our tailpieces from Robin at Busker Guitars would be the best option as they are a better shape. They are not an expensive item. Now I want to hear your beautiful guitar....... Shine On Michael.

You're right Michael, the tail piece doesn't touch the cover. Does it make a difference? I was under the impression that people put a pad under the tailpiece in case it touched and caused buzzing!
I'll do a short recording soon, but you won't be impressed by the playing!!
Keith.

Hi Keith, The tailpiece must touch the coverplate, otherwise you will not be getting the right contacts and vibrations through the instrument. There should be no gaskets or pads anywhere on a National guitar, all components should be in contact with each other - ie: tailpiece to coverplate, coverplate to body, resonator cone to soundwell. Putting in gaskets and pads kills tone. Here is a photo of how your tailpiece should look.... Shine On Michael.
