Binding! ;D I was going to go with Ivoroid, as was original... but the Hazmat shipping charges etc... kind of turned me off to that... my wife suggested the cream instead of white... I'm happy she did, I think it looks great against the red mahogany neck ... I like it better than the original actually! Now for more scraping & scraping & scraping... then a couple coats of nitro finish and on to the frets! BTW... binding tape is pretty tenacious stuff... I have a few chips that lifted from the board to fill now...

Moving along.... Frets are installed, leveled, dressed, polished. Just a few final buff outs needed here & there that I discovered later in different lighting... I think she's starting to look like a guitar again! BTW.... frets 13-14 almost did me in... I couldn't get them to seat... after 2 weeks I grudgingly took it to a guy here in town who used to work with Frank Ford of Gryphon Stringed Instruments. I was happy to see he was a little stumped after going through the same things I did (Hammer, clamping etc...). He seated them with a ball peen hammer much harder than I would have & super glued them in...so I had to clean up those areas again, but he was a nice guy & didn't charge me I was also glad to see my neck joint was able to withstand his brute force tactics! Next is the nut.... then set up! ;D ;D ;D

SHE IS FINISHED!!!
Did the finishing touches this weekend, glued in the tailblock, notched the saddle, was able to use the original bone nut, strung up and WOW! She sounds fantastic! She is now easily playable up and down the neck, over the heel & fretboard with no buzzing or fretting out, great projection and the tone & sustain are just beautiful! There will be some fine tuning to the setup at the nut & saddle, but I'm going to let her settle and play her for a while and then see where things are. I have to also finish up the truss rod cover, I've carved one by hand out of ebony that is similar in shape to some I have seen in pics... I promise to get a vid and/or soundclip posted later this week! About 7 months work & research in all, high points, low points, I learned a lot, some times along the way I was wondering why I do this to myself, give myself the added stress & pour out blood sweat & tears... well, when I'm able to sit down with a guitar that I was able to rescue & rehabilitate and make music with it, that's why Thank you so much for the kind words you all! I really appreciate the support and have enjoyed the comments and questions! ;D My long time dream of having a tricone has finally come true!!! Now, time to play her for the next 30 or 40 years ;D

You have obviously taken your time and been careful, looks like a nice triplate ...with photo's and all that, well worth the wait, good on you. Well done..now waiting for a sound clip soon ? can't wait.. Continental guitars are collectable now , i think so anyway!
Off the cuff, I hope MM will bring a decent triplate out soon?.I would buy one,Some of us know MM as owned the" Harry Triplate " come on Michael..?
