Finally got my head round it - its a well. I was wondering whether the well surface would be best really smooth or roughed up a bit? TT Attachments:

Any reason the well surface is `clover-leaf` rather than `rounded triangle`?. This will give a short-cut to sound from the underside of the cones to the coverplate grills. This may ,be a good thing.......... PT

Make it lighter! I admit there's a chance it won't sound like a fine resophonic... TT

The Res-Paul is having a `make-over`, (It looked too much like the Egmond) PT Just to make things clear: A Res Paul is an electric guitar with a cone fitted Les O`Nator is the Irish minister for fishing

Here's the start of the latest one - I have got the hang of satisfactorily bending the sides now. Its gonna be a 13 fret dobro - why not?

Hey Deuce, A thirteen fret neck works out to be kind of interesting. I just recently acquired a vintage Dobro with a 13-ftret neck. I plan to post some pictures and a story after I get it all back together. But I did get a chance to play it a bit before it was time to put it on the bench. That extra fret makes playing to the twelfth fret quite nice. So sliding up to that octave is a whole different experience.

Interesting to note that a standard 14fret neck blank ,if fitted to a 12fret `standard` body will give you (approx.) a 27", 13frets-to-body neck. PT

I made an uneducated decision to use cork floorboard edging instead of kerfing (£4.99 for 18 strips from screwfix - bargain!). I'm really hoping it won't be a tone killer.... TT

I don't think that's going to add much strength to the joint TT!
