Nope, thick gauge Vintage Steel, exactly like the one on sale over at Ebay.
Difference between thick VS and thin NRP gauge tricones is about a pound in weight. (9 vs 8) The material used for the single cones now, is different and lighter but it is not used for any Vintage Steel tricone yet.

The wooden Tricone is really fantastic. I congratulate you with that purchase. When you play slide, it sounds dark and sad. The fingerpicking is a remarkable mix of guitar and harp, almost. I'd like one. Anyways, here you can see my Old Scratchy on the workbench over at National. Do press the NEXT button if you want to see more pictures. ;D www.myotherdrive.com/dyn/pv/822.164805.04042010.47315.6a65fi/DSCN0686.JPG

You win some, you lose some. My reso is on it's way. It has an all black neck with only the National logo on it; no fret dots. The look is very industrial. National send me some pictures, so that's some extra for me. Tuesday will be Reso-day. Again, press next for some more pics, but here's the label being written: www.myotherdrive.com/dyn/pv/565.415816.08042010.60985.6a64fi/DSCN0749.JPG

Geof
Why don't you go out and celebrate, however the pubs would probably be shut by the time you made your mind up what you wanted to drink!

Tommo, you seem to know me quite well already, haha. Actually, drinking is not such a problem for me; I'll drink anything! But which pub.... Hmmm
I am so sorry Chris, whaha! I rarely burst into laughter when I read online, but you got me. It IS the coolest neck they have and it does complete the Art Deco appearance. It's sophisticated and industrial raw at the same time. I probably should not tell you that this was the only available neck they had "sitting around" to go on my blem body... However, I envy you for that lush wood body you are going to put your hands on. Brrr... Let me know when it arrives!
You guys are good company.

Strangely enough, customs has picked my guitar for random checking procedures. Could take a day, or a month... I'll just have to sit this one out, leave customs alone and wait until the reso comes.

Wait until you get their bill. You might have to leave it there longer until you save up some more cash ;D

Well, I have been anticipating tax, VAT and clearing fee. About 24% extra to the USA price. So, you won't catch me off guard with that one! I presume I do not get any strange fines because I trust UPS to declare any goods they import.
And the good news is, they released Auwe Krats today! UPS tracking is handy indeed...

Geoff, You can rest assured, if National have sent it, all will be in order. Anybody stupid enough (which you obviously are not) not to take import duty and VAT in to account would be in for a very expensive shock.
....................so..........enough talking Geoff my lad.............get learning and put some stuff on Youtube.I 'd like to hear how 'Old Scratchy' sounds.
Regards
