So, will Slide Fest I go down in the annals of history as "PercyFest"? (Forgive me, I cannot remember which wit came out with that one) Personally, I think so Great little venue, a day filled with a variety of draws, so much so that i didn't get to see everything. The evening concert was the "icing on the cake"
Thanks to Percy, Jane and all the contributors to the day, so many that i can't possibly remember them or name them. You know who you are!
Here's to SlideFest II - perhaps Ry Cooder and Duane Allman will make an appearance next year (See Mike Cooper's amusing post) Cheers IAN & LUCY

I reckon a pretty good time was had by all, and possibly even by sundry too. Only problem is, my right thumb hurts today...
Thanks to Perce and Jane and all the other organisers, and to the exhibitors who gave us nice things to look at and even buy: what's a Saturday without some shopping?
Concert on Saturday night? One of the best I've been to in ages, really classy stuff from all the performers. Thank you all very much for the music and the inspirations!
Cheerily,
Gerry C

1st British Slide Festival. I missed a fair amount but what I did see was great! The Red Lion was a very good venue with nice accommodation and centrally placed. All parking in Atherstone is free by the way. The bottleneck was excellent (real ale), the only down side being that it ran out before the end :-(
I got to meet Percy ;D I got to meet Robin (Busker Guitars) and Ian (Diamond Bottlenecks) and a large number of very nice people ;D
I looked in at the Michael Messer workshop. It seemed to be very beginner friendly, I almost wish I'd taken my guitar.
Basil and Pat Henriques gave a very entertaining and informative talk on the evolution of the music from the early Hawaiian style, expertly illustrated with musical examples.
Tom Doughty started off the concert in the evening. What a hard act to follow! Really enjoyable and a nice bloke into the bargain. He played lap slide on a Weissenborn and a National, in his own style and keeping the integrity of the music. He finished on a high with Zimbabwe Blues, a must hear song.
Next up, Lucy Zirrins who I was looking forward to, having seen her before. She did not disappoint with a dynamic performance of light and shade, ebb and flow, Gospel and Blues. (In the middle, getting a room full of blokes to bark and howl!)
This is the first time I've seen Michael Messer and Ed Genis. Although Ed is in the role of accompanist, I really enjoyed Ed's playing. As for Michael, in every genre, when you are starting out, there is one person who is the one to try to copy. In slide that person is Michael Messer. Michael's playing is so clean & precise but still full of passion. He gave a marvellous performance with too many highlights to mention.
Thanks Percy, Michael and all who’s efforts made this possible.
Bill

Hi there all,
I just wanted to thank anyone that had anything to do with the slide fest on Saturday from Percy and Jane, who made me feel most welcome, to All of the great people that I met during the day.
It was great to meet a glissando of slide guitarists.

Thanks to all for a great time, even as a beginner I felt welcome! I learned more from talking to Tom and partaking in Michael's workshop than I think I have in my six months of playing and reading books. Count my vote for a second festival.

What a great day! Perce - you're a star. All the performers last night were awsome. +1 for doing it all again. Listening to all that music - I let the waves of the water wash my trouble down!

Hi Maxx - ever thought of changing the gender identification in your Forum profile - more than a little misleading - regards David
