I might have missed it in the 7 pages, but how much do these weigh? I might have to sell something and get one of these next year. The fiddle edged dobros are the only dobro models I have ever liked. I just weighed my MM Fiddle Edge its 8.6 Lbs or 3.90 Kg Kim

Got my FE "M 007" from Q yesterday lunchtime. A superb guitar which I know was born through blood, sweat and tears with loads of patience but it was worth the wait. The guitar is now known officially as M and will be cherished and played. It came fitted with MM Monel 15-56s, as per my request, set up perfectly for my tastes and sounds wonderful. Again, thank you - see you soon with M at Pocklington. PD ...in the meantime here's the other one

Hi Michael, I sent you a request to order the MM Fiddle Edge and few days back. No reply yet. I live in Canada. I placed my order for an MM Lightning with 12th Fret guitar in Toronto on hold until I hear back from you. They are the most professional gents and represent your brand superbly. They said they would cancel my order no problem if I succeeded in ordering the Fiddle-Edge from you since they do not have any orders for it with you. If the limited run is not over I am willing to wait whatever time it takes to obtain the Fiddle-Edge model.
Cheers,
Mike

Michael
Just a couple of days into my new Fiddle Edge.
Well what a great guitar, still a bit closed down but warming up by the day but without doubt it is the best resonator I have ever played and I have played quite a few. Hard to describe how perfect it is. So easy to play, so very responsive, such phenomenal tones and great sounds.
I guess it came with strings that had been tuned to open G as they fell in to that tuning very quick. I tend to use my Dobro for Open D and my biscuit for open G as the barking, quich attack and general noise work well, but this guitar works so well in G. So naturally wondered what you tuned the strings to when you first put them on?
This brings me to a question of what is the natural resonance of the body, I know a lot of classical guitars have a resonance around g to f on the low e string. I ask because I noticed that the G on the third string on the FE is very resonant and strong. Or to put the same question, in a simple way, given that each body will be slightly different due to the production process do you find that the Fiddle Edge in general is at its best in open G?

Bruce Hi Bruce I am pleased that you are happy with your MM Guitar and I am grateful for your kind words.. I did not tune your guitar to open G for any other reason than I played a few tunes in both G and D tunings before packing it, which I always do on every guitar, and I guess that open G was the one I finished with. Sometimes I also play them in standard. It just depends on how I feel and whether I know the customer is going to use it in a particular tuning. Your guitar like most good resonator guitars sounded great in both tunings. I do not believe that one guitar sounds better in as particular tuning, but I do think that players prefer to play some guitars in a particular way. With my own guitars I do not keep them in a particular tuning because I choose a guitar for its sound and feel, rather than the key or tuning that it will be in. Also having toured so much and travelled by air to so many gigs, I have got used to playing everything on one guitar. Back when I first started doing gigs with National and Dobro guitars I don't remember anyone taking more than one guitar to a gig, we all played everything on one guitar - bottleneck, lap steel, standard etc... all on one instrument. My advice is to play it as much in D as in G tuning and see how it feels. I have just received your extra sets of strings and will post them on Monday. ENJOY!!! Thank you. Shine On Michael
