Hello, apologies for my impatience.. are there any sound samples or demos as yet? Cheers Chris No need to apologise. It's me that should do that because I am running behind schedule with all this. All in good time :-) Shine On Michael

The guitar sounded strong/full in the short excerpts in the exclusive intro video. I’m no expert on Dobros but it sounded really good to me. The fact you can swap in a National style 9 1/2” biscuit cone increased the wow factor for me. Doubly versatile. And it looks great. I’d imagine the off-set spiders are rare enough - so I think it would be better buying the guitar WITH the spider & cone - then convert later if you want. 9 1/2” cones are easy enough to obtain.
What’s not to like. The intro video was enough, for me, to know I should buy one. And will they ever drop in value ? I don’t think so.

I ordered mine after seeing and hearing the guitar on the video, it sounds really good. I must admit though, i have been so close to changing from the spider to the biscuit cone on numerous occasions But i will stick with the spider i think Its a tough wait, especially as my son has told me not to change the strings on his Baby Taylor! No reso, no fun.

I don’t disagree but £1.8k is a good chunk of money to justify spending… sound samples might just tip me over the edge… haha

I’m absolutely certain it is worth every penny however.

I’m absolutely certain it is worth every penny however. Having had the privilige of playing both a prototype and a production model in the last few years, I can assure you that it is. 😀

Hello everyone
I thought I should post an update because the first batch of MM Fiddle Edge guitars has taken longer than expected to be ready to deliver to my customers.
We are living in strange times and everything, well almost everything, has caused us to slow up. The first thing was the cases for the guitars were slow arriving and clearing customs, then a cardboard shortage, so the new bespoke shipping boxes couldn't be made, a shortage of wire slowed up string manufacture and then a couple of people in the Fiddle Edge chain were unwell. Phew!
It is really not my style to take peoples' money and then delay the deliveries, but these are extreme and strange times we are living in.
So the first batch of guitars are being setup next week and will be shipped out to my customers either late next week, or early the following week.
Once we get going and on a Fiddle Edge roll (no pun intended), there will be no delays when guitars are ordered.
I thank everyone for their patience and I apologise for these delays.
Take care everyone and stay well
Shine On Michael

Cool !!
I've a couple of v small-venue gigs coming up, first weekend of June, so it would be cool if I get my one by then. However, if not, I perfectly understand ! Like a good pint of Guinness ......... !
I seem to remember my (first batch) Lightnin', back in 2008 (was it ?) - the set-up, string-height wise, was pretty spot on, even for my preferences. Same again ! I like slightly higher on the 1st & 2nd string, at the saddle, so sliding melody lines on the 1st string is clean, on the lower frets (2-5). If in doubt, leave higher - I have nut slot files so can easily adjust to taste.

Good to hear that things are moving Any news on the costs for sandblasting yet? It is a fantastic looking instrument and a major achievement, the sandblast design is very tempting but cost does unfortunately have to be factored in (I keep going back and watching the podcast again, is it morbid to want to see the pictures of the piles of junked bodies? )
