I watched that guitar on reverb.com for several months. The price went up & down a few times; at one point over $1K US. Nice buy!

Not sure, Michael; seller was in Germany, guitar had neck/ headstock issue. That is MMB '28 Test 2. The neck got damaged in transit from the factory to me. I fixed it, but cosmetically it still shows. I don't think that Test 1 has surfaced for quite a while. If and when it does surface, someone should get it because it is a really well built and great sounding instrument. I sold it because I don't have the need or the space to keep all these things, and I like to see them get a life of their own. There is also the MM Blues '29 prototype that is owned by Bod on this forum. Although certain details are not exactly as I wanted, it t is a very nice sounding guitar. The original idea was to have two models, the 28 and the 29, but that was a little extravagant and I settled on one model. With this guitar I was experimenting with different use of the hula girl decal and with antique crackle finish over the whole thing. it was easy to do and looks great. I don't remember MM Blues '29 Test 1, but I guess it must have existed for there to be a test 2 instrument. Shine On Michael

Thank you Michael, very interesting stories with these prototypes! Test 2 is my second one (the first one is unnumbered) and I hope it is going to sound great. It's obvious anyway that the flowers decal on the top has been added by one of the previous owners. I'll post a video as soon as I play the thing!

Very nice finish on the 'crackle' guitar, awesome trad 'burst. Got my 'Blues 28' (used) today - it's got an awesome 'burst finish too & sounds great! The smaller/ light weight body (compared to the MM Blues) is perfect.

I'm the another owner of MM Blues28 Test2. I'll give you my humble opinion when I'll get it, but after talking to 1928triolian (previous owner from this forum) I have only a positive feelings about it.

The MM Blues28 test 2 prototype has arrived. Thanks to 1928triolian who sold it to me. I've just put a new strings on it and I can't stop playing. It sound good, maybe not as spectacular as steel ones, but still good. It's very comfortable to play. I don't like the finish. I know this is a replica of 1928/1929 guitars and I like the general idea of this finish, but exact colours on this guitar seems a little too garish for my liking. I may consider refinishing it myself in near future (I refinished my telecaster with success so I believe I'm qualified )

Great stuff! Your new guitar arrived safely from Italy. Your prototype is really just what it says, a prototype / test guitar. It was not built exactly to the specifications that I requested and you are correct that it does not sound quite like others, but it does have a very warm tone. The wood on the top and back are not the correct thickness. The F holes are the wrong size. The scale length on yours is correct, but the body is a little too short, you can see that the coverplate is too close to the end of the body. These are all things that were gradually corrected with each prototype. The colour on all the prototype / test MMB28 guitars was never right. It was very difficult to explain exactly how I wanted it to be and it was always too garish. Yours is more subtle that No1, which looks more like a circus clown painted it! This was the reason I eventually gave in and decided to go with the sunburst wood finish, which my manufacturer does very well. They are what they are and they are unique and cool guitars. If you do decide to refinish it and you want to put the hula girl decal on the back again, I still have some and would be happy to sell one to you. The coverplate on your guitar is superb! These were difficult to make and that was my reason for going with the standard coverplates. Those Tuners don't look right, you should get some Stewmac Golden Age ones, or I could send you a set of MM tuners. www.stewmac.com/parts-and-hardware/tuning-machines/slotted-peghead-guitar-tuning-machines/golden-age-restoration-tuners-for-slotted-peghead-guitar---square-end/These things have lives of their own. It seems like many years ago that it was in my house. It was...The first one of these I brought back from China in 2009, then I think it was 2011 that I got the first one sent to me here, so yours may be 2012. Enjoy! Shine On Michael

Thanks for all the details about my new guitar. I think I wouldn't notice many things that you have mentioned. By the way, what thickness would be correct? I already thought about new tuners when I was restringing, these are very loose.
If I'll decide to refinish it I'll surely ask you for the hula girl.
