I am currently having this built for me by Modulas Amplification ( no affiliation) on the East coast of Scotland. it is designed around the Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 circuit but with a Dumble" type modification on it that gives it more headroom its 20w max and has an attenuator on it select anything between 1w and 20w. looking forward to trying it out .. Hi there !
I had a look at their website and can see all the amp parts they sell, plus making custom amp cabinets to order. I don’t see anything in their website about making whole amps for customers. Do they also do amp repairs etc ?
Many thanks !

jono1uk,
is there a way you could try out an un-modified 5E3 into two efficient 12" speakers? the 12-14 watts a stock circuit will generate can be quite loud with good speakers.

I built a version of a 5e3 a few years ago and it did have a great (albeit dirty) sound, unfortunately I wanted it for harp and it was not quite right. It is now in bits as I try to add a second channel (extra preamp valve with lower voltage)to get a good harp tone and good guitar tone from the same amp BUT without having to change any tone settings . I think I will have to stop the ‘interactive volume/tone’ of the original circuit, we shall see if I ever get round to finishing it!

Dirty harp sound would be good for me! I bet you'll be getting some enquiries Pete!
Best wishes to you all, John 😎👍

Though I have done guitar repairs for many years, amps are very different. To start with ,a wire in the wrong place can kill someone, I don’t think I will be making any amps for the general public! Pete My technical skills are also limited, so most of my amps are straight copies of classics, which is why the tweed Delux is taking so long

Sounds very good Jon, albeit on my "smart" 'phone. What cab do you have in mind for it?

well my main amp at the mo is a 67 black face super reverb.. needs to be cranked ,,so way to loud and bloody heavy .. this one is just a head 20 watts with a variable attenuator ...its gonna through a ZILLA cab loaded with a 1 x12 Electovoice speaker

Going by that soundfile, it should be brill Jon. I don't think I'm alone in looking forward to hearing it?
I have found that 20 watts is still way too loud for confined spaces. I use (with restraint!) a home made attenuator on my 30 watts valve combo, even when it is set at 15 watts output.

The attenuator is adjustable down to 1W if needed ..
