Just an 'FYI' post....
I recieved my Style 1.5 back from Dave King the other day and am so impressed by the difference he's made to the guitar that i thought i'd let you all know.
The guitar has been transformed! - and for that i'd like to recommend he is nominated for a knighthood.

I am pleased you are happy with the work Dave has done for you. There is no doubt about the quality of his his work. Also, his business partner, Celine, is a superb guitar repairer & restorer.
Shine On, Michael

Hi Snakehips, I bought a new style 1.5 a few weeks back and the action was very very low indeed - to the point where i could play Van Halen's eruption on it with ease! Bear in mind that i am comparing the action to my two other National resophonics, a style N i bought new in 2000 and a 1993 Delphi I swapped for an Ibanez Jem a few years back. The style N and delphi both have a perfect set up for bottleneck slide (ie quite high but fine for slide/hawaiian and fingerstyle) I generally use newtone 15', so i tweaked the trussrod to create more of a bow in the neck but it still didn't give me the buzz free action I wanted. I tried 16's on it..still too low and buzzy. I sort of knew all along that the only answer was a new nut and bridge so I got in touch with Dave King and Don Young (of National Resophonic). I asked Don if the guitar had maybe been specifically ordered with a very low action for someone who intended to play purely fingerstyle (ie non slide) Don said it hadn't and recommended Dave King had a look, I sent it down to Dave who gave the guitar a set up. I gave Dave the measurements from my style n (distance from fretboard to the string on 12th and 5th fret) to give him a ballpark idea of what i wanted. A couple of days later it came back totally transformed. Louder, smoother, cleaner, with the sound that was in my head (if u know what i mean), and of course with a perfect action. Money well spent! I've got 15s back on it now and it feels perfect. I appreciate that a guitars action is very much a subjective thing but if, for example, i'd bought a Les Paul, i'd expect to have to tweak the action but i certainly wouldn't expect to have to re-nut it! I've mailed National again with the outcome and am waiting for a response. I really think you'll be pleased with dave's/celine's work. Let me know how it turns out

As this is a musical forum should Daves title not be the " Duke of Earl" Any more musical titles, get thinking!
Regards Lee.

Hi Nicky !
Dave has worked on 3 other Nationals of mine (2 for neck reset, one of which had a new fretboard too, one for new neck - a baritone neck !!) and I've seen his and Celine's work other works too. That's the reason I sent these further 3 to him !!
