Found this wonderful site full of instruments that in some ways are similar to the awful japanese guitars from the 60s and 70s that we used to struggle with, only 10 times worse. www.cheesyguitars.comMakes you feel for the musicians who had these monsters to contend with behind the Iron Curtain, yet also some of the designs are amazingly outlandish. I bet some of these with their high actions and microphonic pick-ups sound great with a bottleneck though. I also love the way that the "copies" looks as though they have been based on smuggled photos. A slice of guitar history, me thinks, you watch they'll be gracing the walls of vintage guitar shops with ludicrous price tags, like some of our nasty 60s and 70s planks do very regularly Love to hear peoples thoughts on some of these. Some of the Futuramas are fairly collectible because of the Beatles connection - George Harrison's first guitar, as I understand it. I worked on one a couple of years ago. They look like they're made from old Stalin tank parts and the vibrato bridge is an amazing construction, with a separate spring for each string. You can imagine how unlikely it is that the guitar will stay in tune if you use the trem! I've realised that's the new, improved version of the bridge. The one I did looked like this: Do you like the one-piece pickguard and pickup cover?
