Hi everyone, I just want to let you know about a great gig happening tomorrow night at the HALF MOON in Putney, London. If you live within reach of Putney and you visit this forum you will definitely enjoy this gig. PRESS RELEASE>>> BJ COLE and his 'Trouble in Paradise' Quartet featuring Ben Bayliss, Laptop; Eddy Sayer, exotic percussion and Alex Ward, Clarinet and vocals; performing music from BJ's recent albums 'Trouble in Paradise' and 'Stop The Panic'. There are two main aspects to BJ Cole's thirty odd years in the music business. Firstly, as a unique innovator on his chosen instrument, the Pedal Steel Guitar, he has carved out a formidable reputation as a session musician. He has recorded with many of the great names in the Rock world, such as Elton John, Marc Bolan, Scott Walker, Beck, Bjork, Sting, REM, David Sylvian and many others. Secondly, as a musical innovator and artist in his own right. BJ began as a founder member of the British post psychedelic band Cochise* (three albums for United Artists). He then went on to write and record his seminal experimental album 'The New Hovering Dog' (United Artists 1973), which featured many of the leading British musicians of the day, including bassist Danny Thompson, drummer Mike Giles (King Crimson) and keyboardist Francis Monkman (Curved Air). "The king of the pedal steel guitar" Wall Street Journal Shine On, Michael.

Hi Michael, Nice to see that the Half Moon is still putting on great live music. I was a regular in the 80s and saw many fine gigs there including Blues 'N Trouble, the Balham Alligators (featuring Geraint Watkins on accordian) and Stan Webb's Chicken Shack. They also used to have jazz on Sunday lunchtimes with John Green' s Snap Syncopators which featured a guy who used to play outrageous bass sax. All that and Young's Special. It almost makes me feel nostalgic All the best, Joe (aka Mairena Red)
