I just want to report that I have been unable to login for a week or so with my old first gen iPad. Freezes everything up before I get the getty (Unix lingo) on the login line. Looks like there was an upgrade to the login tool on the board. Ok to delete this message.

Hi Fred,
I had no idea that some folks can't login on old iPads. Typical, they force us to buy the latest iMachines!

I have another login issue:
When I want to log in on my Macbook I have to change my privacy cookies settings to 'always allow', normally I would have the settings at 'only allow from websites I visit', is that normal or should I be adjusting some other setting?

OK. I turned off all of the security options on safari, and can now login on the old iPad...though previously did not have to. Something was changed recently at pro boards...Not saying not for the better security-wise....
Went back and tried individual options...it was disabling java script that allows me now to login...cookies remain at visited...

Hmmmm.... There do appear to be some problems with Proboards software. Let's leave it a few days to see if they correct the problems, if not... then I will see what I can do.

I just started not getting email message alerts when someone messages me. I imagine you've already tried this - but if not, it may be worth checking / resetting your notification options (profile > edit profile > notifications). I've had the same problem once or twice and found changing and then resetting the options seemed to fix it...

Back in the old days, equipment was designed to have a long lifespan, and upgrades to the network/infrastructure were downward compatible...meaning the old equipment worked fine in the new environment...black and white televisions worked with a color signal, mono radios worked on a stereo signal, dial telephones worked on a touch tone network... And when we wrote software for large systems the intent was to support older hardware ( I worked for the Bell System). So now we have "app based" iPhones and iPads and the like which are virtually useless afters few years of use, and it seems that browser-based users are vulnerable to either planned or incidental obsolescence. Either is likely the case with the new pro boards. I have an early iPad, and it is no longer upgradable... I can't get YouTube videos any longer and it crashes on many websites. At least it hasn't burned down my house, yet...

Update- resetting the preferences worked so I get an email notice, which was in a new format so I thought I'd post that info. Definitely a proboard upgrade on that notice format.
