I admit it, I like learning from books... Lately I've been playing exclusively in Open G -- why can't I find any books dedicated to this tuning?
I do have a couple of slide books (Woody Mann's, Arlen Roth's), and a book on open tunings -- but that covers a whole range of tunings I'm not interested in at the moment, and doesn't get deep into any of them either.
Does anyone know of a book, or at least a decent resource to get deeper into this tuning?
It's funny... I spent years being frustrated with standard tuning. Switching to open tuning really does open up a whole new world. But there's just not a lot of learning material for it.

Yes, I've seen his site. But that's not the indepth information I'm looking for (and he's a bit of a nutcase). It just strikes me as odd that, 60 years after the blues revival, no one has ever put together a comprehensive, more or less progressive book dealing only with Open G tuning? Maybe there's an old out-of-print book I can try to dig up? I don't mind my method -- hunting down songs that interest me, and if I can't find the tab, figuring out a version that works for me (I find myself playing a lot of Open D/Vestapol songs in Open G/Spanish). But it doesn't challenge me as much -- I get lazy and can go for weeks without taking on a new song -- and I feel like I'm missing out on interesting information. .

Mickey, I think that the problem you have is that the information you are looking for has been taught using video tapes and DVDs for a long time now. I doubt you will find really good books on this subject, but you will find DVDs

I've worked with a bunch of videos and DVDs, and they're great for learning individual songs -- but I often get impatient with them. And I'm looking to go a bit deeper into the potential Open G offers, and it seems to me books are best at handling this kind of stuff, the theory, the different styles, etc. Oh well. @kenny Sultan popped up a few weeks back, I've already worked with one of his books (and it was very helpful)...hmm...maybe he'll take the hint...

This comes closer to what I'm looking for: Country Blues Book Although all I really need is the PDF from that.
