I've been playing 'unplugged' quite a bit recently and my middle fingertip had developed a pretty good callous, yet the more i played the hard skin sort of cracked..then the string catches the crack gets worse etc..etc. So having read years ago about guitarists putting superglue on their fingers i thought i'd give it a go.
It works a treat. no pain, feels good, sentsitve enough so i can 'feel' the string i was very careful not to got for a 'number 1' afterwards though.
apparently it was used in vietnam to hold wounds together.
there'll always be superglue in my gig bag now!

Yes, it's quite a common medical trick and it also works for the broken\split guitarist nail syndrome, but you have to take the coloured varnish orff first though
