ANNOUNCEMENT:
We have been waiting for the right time to make this announcement, but now is as good a time as any.
‘Busker Guitars’ and ‘Michael Messer Guitars’ are no longer in partnership.
When Robin and I started this business in 2008, we had no idea how successful it would be, and really what has happened is that we have become victims of our own success.
As everyone knows, Robin handled all the setups and shipping of MM guitars, which was fine at first, but it became too much work for him. Robin retired from the RAF in 2008 and it was never his intention to run a full-time guitar business, it just organically grew out of an idea that we had and it became too much for him to cope with as a part-time job.
Robin’s involvement with MM guitars has been a major ingredient in the success of the brand. His passion for the instruments, his dedication to customer service, and his insistence on perfection, are without question a massive part of what made MM guitars so successful. We both wish that Robin could continue, but the workload became too much and it was amicably agreed that we would part company.
Robin is continuing with Busker Guitars, keeping it at a manageable size that he can run as a part-time business. He is too passionate about all this to give it up completely and I wish him continued success with his business.
Michael Messer Resonator Guitars - the ‘MM’ brand, is currently in discussion with a new partner about setting the business up as an online ‘guitar and slide accessories’ store. The shipments of guitars will be bigger and more frequent, and this in turn will mean that we will not keep running out of stock. In the past two years we have spent more time without guitars than with them. While it is good for a business to have the demand for its products greater than the supply, it did reach a point where the effects of this were negative. The MM brand has become too popular for a two-man part-time business to cope with.
The high quality of all MM guitars is of the utmost importance to me and just as we have done for the past five years, we will continue to provide what I truly believe are the best and most authentic budget-priced 1920s & 30s-style resonator guitars available.
There will be a new Michael Messer Resonator Guitars website and ordering system in the not too distant future, but until that happens, anyone wanting to order an MM guitar can contact me direct, either by PM (private message) on this forum, or by email. Robin is now forwarding all enquiries about MM guitars to me.
MM BLUES ’28 >THE NEW WOOD BODIED MODEL:
The first shipment of these guitars arrived in October 2013 and was so much in demand that they were almost all sold before they got here. To tide us over while we restructure the MM business, there is a small shipment of MM BLUES ’28 guitars about to start its journey to the UK, which should arrive at the end of April. As we are not quite ready to put our new company into action, these guitars can be ordered direct from me.
MM BLUES (12 fret & 14 fret steel bodied guitars) and
MM LIGHTNING (12 fret brass bodied guitars). There will unfortunately be a gap while we set up the new company, but we will be placing an order very soon.
I will continue to run the MM guitars business as we have in the past, building what I truly believe are the best budget-priced resonator guitars in the world, and offering my customers a personal service that usually only comes with guitars costing a lot more.
I am sorry to be parting company with Robin and I thank him for everything he has done.
I am very grateful for people being so loyal to the MM brand, and with my new company I will continue to provide the high standard of service that was provided by Robin at Busker Guitars.
Thank you,
