This is tests of an APOGEE MiC attached to an iphone 5c. The app is the RODE Rec. It needs an adapter from apple for the 30 pin connection.Tests of three different types of guitar- mic wasn't adjusted moved for each. There were no EQ adjustments. I hope this equipment will make it easier for me to test sound!
1. 2010 Republic JWinter Res @ 0:00 2. 1940's Vintage Harmony Richter @ 0:58 3. 1990 Nick Lucas Reissue @ 2:12

Sounds good even though we are losing a lot over the internet and with file compression.

Thanks - its the first mic set up that works for different types for me - seems to have a little correction built in and is kind to not fretting properly and bad sounding notes with slide. The Nick Lucas doesn't sound like the recording but I don't mind the interpretation - the res and the vintage are fairly accurate in capturing the personality. And the bass doesn't overwhelm - I think thats the RODE REC app. I don't get on with Garageband

Hi Michael, Yes, thats it. Thank you very much for your compliments! It comes with a tripod and I rotated it 90 degrees sideways counterclockwise across from the guitars for full capture. I also think it needs the rode rec app. Here's the tutorial I set this up to.

Mitchfit I'm not sure I can for you but will try. 1.The mic has cord that goes out to a 30pin at the end (whatever 30 pin is.)- I haven't seen this before its newfangled. 2.you have to buy a connector with a lightning connector on one end and that 30pin connector on the other for the iphone. Apple sells them. You plug the mic cord (1) in the mic,the lightning cord with adapter (2) in the iphone and then connect. (The mic also comes with a usb for ipads.) This is the one I got they make another just with the 30pin but other buyers complained it wouldn't fit if the iphone has a case:

That Apogee mic is really good. The review movie is very well done too. The reviewer is clear and gives some good advice.

thanx for clarification.
[basically, digitally illiterate here.]
thought pins were desginated for mic use, and could not even imagine any way how they were useful as such.

I enjoyed this very much.A great mic sound.Personality of each guitar is so different.I like the cut of the Richter and the reso sounding great. The NICK LUCAS has that plummy gibson sound.Less focused than ladder guitar but very nice.Your playing is very good.Very authentic sound. Also anyone who play a song by King Solomon Hill is a winner to me. eggy

Thank you very much Eggy. I am happy to hear that you thought the difference in personality came through on the mic, kind of what I thought as well.
Especially since I just sat in front of the keyboard tray where the mic was on a tripod and same distance for all guitars. My gibson doesn't project at all so that was a big surprise that the APOGEE captured it, I had tried the shure mics and the rode videomic and had just about given up on it being recordable.
I would recommend if members are recording practices with an iphone they download the free rode rec app and test it as it does a good job with the built in mic, although not near as good as this mic.
