For those who may not be aware:
The 2011 production of Robert Johnson's complete recordings was released on what would have been Johnson's 100th birthday. I didn't give it a second look since i'd already bought the Pristine Classical productions several years back, until recently a friend said they were amazing.
I've now had them for a month, and can honestly say that they leave the Pristine release (great as it was) in the dust.
You can listen on ITunes to each track before you buy, but you'll agreed the remastering is superb.
Definitely a must for all Johnson fans.

Are you talking about the release with this cover artwork? If so, then I would have to agree with you. I didn't pay it any mind when it was first released ( "this is worse than the Beatles...how many times can they re-package and re-release these same songs?") but when I finally heard it the amount of previously obscured detail was astounding. This isn't just re-EQd and noise-reduced, there is actual audio information here that simply did not exist on the previous issues. Short of hearing an actual 78rpm playing on a well-maintained phonograph (something I have experienced on two occasions, both experiences served only to underline how poorly transferred the previously available releases were) this is as good as it gets. Buy it and give the copy you already have away to a friend, you won't regret it.

I got a copy after Scott Ainslie recommended it at this year's Blues Week. The sound quality is nothing short of miraculous.

Yep, that's the one.
It was Scott that put me on to it at Bluesweek. Fascinating liner notes too, guides you to listen out for stuff like in the middle of 32-20 blues, you can hear a truck driving up the street in the background!
Its great to be able at last to tune up, and play along and hear clearly that you're getting it right. (or wrong as the case may be)!
DaveRed. Are you the guy that makes the Delta resonators?

Hi Gordon,
I met so many people, I'm having difficulty remembering who's who!
Are you Gordon that also did the vocal workshops?
