Hi
Having just checked out train prices for getting to Pocklington and back I'm looking for alternatives - coach is much more affordable, but would involve travelling through the night to arrive in York at 4 in the morning on the Friday, so I'm now wondering if there is anyone driving oop north from down south for the event who'd be happy to swap an empty seat for a passenger and some petrol money (no harm in asking...)

Hi Bod,
I am pretty sure I will have a full car, but you should check with some of the folks on the Facebook page too. Sharing transport is a good idea.

Hi Just to say my error: travel to Pocklington by train is not prohibitively expensive after all. It seems that I went looking for advance train ticket bargains too early, as I have just acquired some for the round trip for a couple of hundred pounds less than the online quote I got in late August Also, interesting to note that it turned out to be much cheaper to travel from Portsmouth to Lancaster and then on to York, than from Portsmouth to York as such! So if you are thinking of Pocklington by train, it might be a good time to look for advance tickets and it might be worth travelling indirectly... (Happily for me I have many old friends in Lancaster and so will be able to make the most of this otherwise odd route to York...)
