Mary Ho, 73, must be the coolest grandma in Singapore. She first started learning to strum the acoustic guitar at the age of 60. What started as leisurely strumming soon developed into electric lead guitar solo playing. There has been no turning back since.
Despite initial fears, physical drawbacks and lack of musical training, Mary's love for the guitar drove her on. After years of hard work and perseverance, Mary mastered a sizeable repertoire, some of which she has performed on stage at public events.
Mary draws her inspiration from guitar legends like Carlos Santana and BB King. Family and friends give her strength to carry on. Apart from playing the guitar, Mary also dances, plays the electone, drums and harmonica. She loves drama and travelling.
Mary has performed at various public events. She appeared on "Rouge", a premiere TV talkshow produced by MediaCorp Singapore, in March 2008.
A devoted grandmother of seven, Mary continues to perform for charity and inspires her grandchildren to learn musical instruments like the guitar, piano, violin and drums.
Beautiful!
Shine On Michael.
