I've been watching this guy,s video's on the tube for a while now he has 100's of videos teaching all sorts of music, but now and again he does some in open tuning featuring slide, here's an example of how to get that Robert Johnson Terraplane blues sound.

I like his style! I think he's a very relaxed and good teacher, and he plays well!

He is a good teacher.
....these guys have really nailed RJ's playing and in the first video (the Japanese musician), the singing too.

Shine On Michael Really impressed with the Japanese player's rendition... I think I know what I'll be studying for the next few weeks! Been trying to develop my thumb independence lately, finding it extremely elusive so far, so Crossroads should provide a welcome change of focus for the time being.

Well, for an impersonation of RJ's performance of Crossroads Blues, the Japanese guy has just nailed the whole thing! I have never heard anyone get that close, and believe me I have heard a lot of people trying....

The "Japanese" is really great.
What would be good one with resophonic guitar? Do you have ideas about that?

Not sure if I understand your question right?
Do you mean Robert Johnson songs, or someone with a good version of "Cross Road Blues" on a reso guitar?

I like that version! Though I appreciate the skill required to do a note by note copy, I'd rather hear a version that someone has kind of made their own....

Me too, Gaucho. My appreciation of the guys doing the copies is based on how much work they have done, and how they have achieved a total understanding of what they are listening to on a Robert Johnson recording. Would I listen to a recording of these guys, well maybe just to spot the mistakes, not for any other reason.
